Board of Education Meeting Highlights
The Board of Education Meetings are featuring a series of presentations highlighting budget-related topics to give our community insight into how the Board crafts the school budget annually. Each presentation will focus on a major area of consideration for planning the 2024-2025 school year.
The third installment of this series, presented by Dr. Jinks at the February 20th Board of Education meeting, gave an overview of Underfunded/Unfunded Mandates affecting school budgets.
At the February 20th Board of Education meeting, the final report and recommendations from the Fifth Grade Stakeholders' Committee were shared with the community and the Board of Education.

Happy Groundhog Day
Preschool students learned about shadows when discussing Groundhog Day on February 2nd. Students enjoyed learning how the groundhog predicts whether or not there will be eight more weeks of winter or six weeks until spring. Everyone was extremely happy to learn that we will have an early spring this year.
Drum Tales
The Jefferson Consolidated PTA sponsored an ocean learning assembly, Drum Tales. Students were given a drum to create different rhythms to go along with the movement of different animals that live in the ocean. For the preschool learners, the presentation tied in well with their exercise unit, where students have been moving their bodies to various rhythms such as tiptoeing, walking, marching, and dancing.

The icy temperatures of winter offered an opportunity for Mrs. Calandrillo’s preschool class to discuss and paint the phenomenon of the Northern Lights using watercolor ice cubes.
