Library Letters
The library turtles, Gillian and Gilligan are growing fast and doing well. The students have enjoyed watching them change and acclimate to their environment. Often times the turtles will swim up and watch the students watching them.
A new addition has been added! Meet Gary, the snail. Gary is a bit of an escape artist and went to visit the turtles in the tank next to his, so Gary now has a new friend to share his home. Mrs. Tobler's class named it Mary to rhyme with Gary. They also think we should find another and name it Terry. I do believe there will be plenty of company for our snail friends soon.
April is poetry month, so students have been hearing poems, writing poems, and have made poetry pockets to be displayed for others to read and enjoy. To spark creativity, 3rd and 4th grade classes wrote a poem and the staff was invited to vote for their favorite one. It was hard, but we do have a winner!
The winning poem is: Hold On For Dear Life by Mrs. Ging's 4th grade class!
Congratulations to all the classes, as they worked together and really did a great job!
Important Dates to remember:
May 9th: all library books need to be returned to the library and overdue patron accounts cleared.
May 6-10 will be the last week of library specials for elementary. Grades 5-12 will need to start locating their Chromebooks, chargers, laptop cases and calculators. This will be due May 20th, or if needed for an exam, after the exam. All items are to be returned before leaving for the summer.
ALL students in grades 5-12 were issued a Chromebook, laptop charger, and a case.
Grades 8-12 were also issued calculators.
Poetry Share: Poems written by third & 4th grade classes
Hold On For Dear Life
by: Mrs. Ging 4th Grade Class
Hold on to your love
Even if your down
Hold on to your money
Even if you really want something
Hold on to confidence
Even if you made a bad grade
Hold on to to your library book
Even if your backpack is heavy
Hold on to your everything
Even when it is not there.
Shorty Sporty
by Mrs. Sessums 4th Grade Class
If you were only one inch tall
you couldn't kick a ball or you would fall
or kick a crumb because that would be dumb
or players will pile and you would be hurting awhile
or you couldn't make it through the goal and win the super bowl
If you were only one inch tall
I Remember
by: Mrs. Michalik 4th Grade Class
I remember when I broke my arm at school and a student laughed at me
I remember my Dad throwing pennies in lake to attract fish
I remember taking a sharp turn on my bike and fell
And it left a scar
I remember the first time I met my friend when I was three and we have been friends ever since
I remember the day my biological mom died
I remember being depressed
Even though I was three years old
I remember when I put makeup on my Dad when he was sleeping
But my favorite memories yet to come
If I Ruled the World
by: Mrs. Timmins 3rd Grade Class
If I were in charge of the world
I'd make recess all day
kids would not have homework
kids would be the teachers
If I were in charge of the world
There'd be dinosaurs back in the world
the school would have a pool
no wars
If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn't be mean to each other
You wouldn't be homeless
You wouldn't let the boys play with the dinosaurs
Or no littering
If I were in charge of the world
Happy
by: Ms. Gaswint 3rd Grade Class
Is an active horse
fast as lightning
in the wild
because it is free!

Technology Awareness
Technology is a wonderful gift for student growth. Replacement/repair of abused items takes away from learning, instruction, and others.
For Awareness:
Usual culprits & possible solutions:
*Playing around: socializing is great, however please be mindful of the area around you. Bumping, pushing, and falling are not good for students or Chromebooks.
*Stepping on devices in cafeteria, classroom, bleachers, band, locker rooms and bus: If possible, don't put them on the ground. If not, place them close to you and out of the path of others. Be mindful of items on the floor, desks, and seats.
*Holding devices by the screen will cause screen damage. Never pick up and hold the Chromebook by the screen.
*Forgetting to bring devices to school: Establish a routine and place the Chromebook, calculator, and borrowed school items in the same safe place when done with it for the day.
Students need to bring their Chromebook and calculator to school every day!
