Summary
Clay Jenkins finds a shoe box on his door step after school one day, read this summary to find out more about Clay and what's in the box.
Characterization
"I rub two fingers, hard, over my left eyebrow"
This shows Clays actions on what he is doing.
"After everything I've talked about on these tapes, everything that occurred, I thought about suicide. Usually, it was just a possible thought. I wish I would die."
Here it shows Hannah Baker's thoughts and feelings about suicide.
I had to use two examples because the book that I read has two narrators, so I used two examples.
1st Person Point of View
"On my way back, the red hand flashes, but I run through the cross walk anyway." (From this piece of text, you see the characters thoughts from 1st person.)
1st person is important for this book, because if it was 3rd person omniscient you would here everyone's thoughts and feelings. But with 1st person you only here Clay and Hannah's thoughts and feelings.
Theme
The theme was, that you really don't know how you impacted someone else's life until you can't take it back.
In this case, Hannah Baker peers impact her life tremendously in hurtful ways.
