Principal Update
Happy June! A lot is going on next week, but before I get into that I'd love to introduce some of our new staff members for next year! Photos included below.
Ariane Stumbaugh - 5th Grade
My name is Ariane Stumbaugh and this is my 20th year teaching. I have spent half of my career teaching 3rd and 4th in Las Vegas. Upon moving back to Spokane Public Schools I began working as a Librarian/Technology teacher and have been an ELA Coach for the past 8 years. Wes and I have been married for 15 years and have two boys, Colton (age 12) and Landon (age 9). We love spending time with our friends and family camping and traveling in the summer. I am so excited to be joining the 5th grade team at Moran Prairie!
Isaac Fry - Resource, half-time
I was born and raised in Spokane. I went to Wilson, Sacajawea and Lewis and Clark High School. I earned my bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington, majoring in special education, in 2013. I earned my master's degree from Grand Canyon University, majoring in Autism, in 2016. I am finishing my 10th year teaching resource at Wilson. I bought my home in 2010, where I live with my girlfriend and our two cats. She is a nurse in the ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Please also welcome Tad Heinen, who will be our PA next year. Mr. C will be moving on to Holmes Elementary as their PA!
Tad Heinen - PA
I am excited for the opportunity to serve the Moran Prairie community and look forward to connecting with each of you. I was born and raised here in the Spokane area, but started my teaching and administrative career on the westside of the state. Our family returned to Spokane right as our first of three daughters started kindergarten (she is a 2023 Lewis and Clark graduate) to be closer to our family. Upon our return, I spent seven years in the West Valley School District at the middle school and elementary levels before the shift to Spokane Public Schools. First and foremost, my wife (Stefanie) and daughters (Clare, Molly, and Gretchen) are at the center of my life. Beyond watching the girls grow up and supporting their many adventures, I enjoy watching old movies, lamenting over the Mariners, and daydreaming of sunny days spent at Disneyland.
Ongoing Reminders
- Thank you to Bloom and our community! Through their Friday fundraiser, they raised $521 for us!
- Register your kindergartner for next year! We are accepting registration and beginning to work on numbers for next year's kindergarten classes. Get your registration in ASAP!
- Volunteers - please remember to sign in and sign out when you arrive! We have to keep track of volunteers for district and state auditing purposes as well as for our PTG.
- Not returning next year? Let the office know ASAP as we work on our numbers and classes for next year.
- Please remember to not block intersections and cross walks during pick-up and drop-off. Also, please follow the directions of crossing guards and supervisors during pick-up/drop-off. When the flag is out, it means to stop as someone is about to cross. Otherwise, supervisors will signal when they need you to keep driving through. We're trying to help with the flow of traffic to prevent too much back-up on 57th.
Lunch Menu Next Week - Chef's Choice!
Monday 6/12 = Chicken Nuggets
Tuesday 6/13 = Corn Dogs (MY FAVORITE!)
Wednesday 6/14 = Sack Lunches for Family Picnic (eating outside, weather permitting)
Thursday 6/15 = Cheese Bites (eating outside, weather permitting)
Friday 6/16 = Hotdogs (eating outside, weather permitting)
Plus random leftovers all week!
Field Day & Family Picnic
We will have 20 stations for students to go to. These will be spread out between the gym, blacktop, and field. Students will choose a station that a volunteer is running, participate in the activity for as long as they need, then get a stamp or sticker. They turn in their passport at the end for their popsicles!
Volunteers can sign up to help using this link: Moran Prairie 22/23: Field Day! (signupgenius.com)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the family picnic, see below for your child's lunch time! You can meet in the classroom or outside on the blacktop. We will have a backup plan if weather does not hold. If a family ordered lunch, it will go to the earliest lunch for their kids. For example, if a family has students in kinder, 1st, and 2nd, the family's lunch will go in the crate to the kinder classroom as that is the first lunch this day.
Lunch schedule for the Family Picnic (I made a slight adjustment so we don't have weird times):
- 11:00 - 11:35 = Kinder
- 11:15 - 11:50 = 1st
- 11:20 - 11:55 = 2nd
- 11:30 - 12:05 = 3rd
- 11:35 - 12:10 = 4th
- 11:50 - 12:30 = 5th
- 12:00 - 12:35 = 6th
