Dear Graham Families,
I hope you're all doing well! We had a flurry of activity this week with volunteers in the LMC, and fire and tornado drills, which teach our students the importance of understanding and knowing safety protocols.
Please be on the lookout for important information below and in the coming weeks to come, as we have a lot of exciting activities and events on the horizon.
Please enjoy this long weekend celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day, and we'll see you on Tuesday!
Ms. Walton
IMPORTANT | Health Services Reminder
The required State of Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination and Immunization forms must be submitted prior to next Friday, October 15, 2021. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. Please contact Nurse Randi Kleffman or Health Aid Lisa Finelli if you have questions or need assistance regarding getting or submitting these documents.
Harvest Party and Parade | October 29th
On Friday, October 29th, we will be having a Fall Harvest Celebration, hosted by the PTA. From 2:15 – 3:15 PM, the students will participate in a classroom celebration, which will include a craft and/or a game. This year our parties will take place outside, so that PTA volunteers will be able to run the parties. The parties will be at assigned grade level areas on school grounds. If weather allows, we will host a costume parade outside. The parade will start at 2PM. If it is raining, please note we will have small celebrations with just the classroom teacher in their classrooms and will not be able to have a parade.
As we want to ensure the safety of all students during this celebration and maintain an environment conducive to learning, we are asking that students follow the rules below:
- Students are not to wear costumes to school at the beginning of the day (including make-up and hair dye); time will be provided by teachers for students to change into their costume. Costumes MUST be able to be put on in the classroom setting and your child should need minimal assistance to put it on.
- Parent/Guardians should assist their student in making appropriate decisions about what students wear for costumes, ensuring that costumes are school appropriate and meet all the District 204 Dress Code Guidelines.
- Please keep play weapons and masks at home. Sharp objects (i.e., wooden or plastic swords) may NOT be part of any costume. This helps ensure all students’ safety.
- Volunteers helping with room parties will be able to come starting at 1:30 but should arrive no later than 1:45 and must be on the list of volunteers for the Harvest Party. Please plan on checking in at the volunteer table to receive your pre-printed ID badge. If you have not had the opportunity to have your Driver’s License scanned by the Raptor System, please plan on coming in during the next few weeks, so that we can run your ID through the system.
- After school pick-up procedures will be the same as all other days. Please do not take your child without signing them out, first. Students should be signed out on the classroom teacher’s sign out sheet or in the front office, so that we are able to account for all students at the end of the day.
- For parents/guardians who plan to attend the parade at 2PM, please plan to park on the side streets or walk over. We will be using the circle drive for the costume parade, and parking will be limited in the school parking lots.
Please contact your child’s teacher if you would prefer that your child not participate in the classroom celebration, and they will be provided an alternate activity during this time.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we enjoy the fun of Graham’s Harvest Celebration! If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience.

Clothes Needed For Health Office
The Health Office is in need of new or gently used clothing to supplement the student emergency clothing closet. This closet is a resource that provides clothing items to students in cases of accidents, sudden inclement weather, broken or ripped items, or items that have become dirty.
Undergarments will be purchased new and should not be donated, but pants, shorts, t-shirts, and sweaters of varying sizes are greatly appreciated! All donations can be dropped off in the front office during normal school hours.
IAR Testing Results
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) score reports will be sent home on Friday, 10/29/21. This assessment is administered to students in Grades 3-5th and was taken in Spring 2021. Only students who attended "in-person" learning and took the assessment will receive a score report.
If your child did not attend Graham last school year, their score reports will most likely be mailed to your home address from their previous school.
Included with the score reports will be a letter explaining the results. If you have any further questions, please reach out to Darlene Stone at darlene_stone@ipsd.org.
Save The Date | Staley Da Bear
The PTA recently announced that because Graham Elementary met our financial goal for the Falcon Fundraiser, the students’ special surprise will be an additional outdoor assembly with the Chicago Bears mascot Staley on Thursday, October 14th!
