Progress Reports
Our first progress reporting window will be finishing up this week with grading tables opening up on Thursday, September 7th. The grading tables will close the following week on September 14th. Please make sure to have all of your gradebooks up to date and your grades posted by September 14th. Progress reports will be mailed out September 15th.
My Path Training
There is a MyPath training that’s scheduled on September 6th during PLC with our 6th-8th math team. My Path is a math intervention program that uses the STAR assessment data and places students in intervention modules right at their level. This is something our 6th grade will be using in their Block 7, and our 7/8 Math teachers will be using in their Math Lab.
Gizmo's Training for New Teachers
There will be an introduction to Gizmos webinar being held at Wilson Middle School from 3:15-4:15 in the Conference Room for any new 4th-8th grade Science Teachers. Gizmos provides students with digital simulation opportunities aligned to NGSS.
Handling Challenging Parents
Stephen will be presenting a voluntary training for any staff who would like to know how to handle challenging parents. He will be sharing strategies and process for how to handle these types of conversations. The training will occur on Tuesday, September 19th - right before Parent Conference season. It will be held in the conference room from 3:15-4:15 if you are interested.
Parent Conferences
Our first parent conferences will be held September 25th and 26th for 6th-8th grades and 28th and 29th for 6th-grade students. They are a great opportunity for teachers to share more in-depth information with parents about how students are progressing. Our conferences will be held in the gym for 7th and 8th grades. Tables will be set up around the perimeter, and chairs will be placed in the middle as a waiting area for parents. We will have a sign-in sheet for teachers to use to keep track of their conferences. The District expectation is that teachers try to meet with 100% of their students for 6th grade and at least 15 students for 7th and 8th grade. If teachers are unable to meet with parents face to face, they can also hold phone conferences.
6th-grade teachers will schedule their conferences and hold them in their classrooms. Translators will be available for all grades.
This week we will be sending out a Google Form for 7th and 8th grade to list the parents they would like to conference with so that letters can be mailed out next week.
