Celebrating student accomplishments in Science
TREES is a selective program that only accepts 5-10 students per year to
conduct environmental research with the faculty at Penn for one month.
Tino also won $500 in the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research essay contest. He was one of two students awarded the title of "Grand Essayist." The contest theme was "Biomedical Research and My Life."
Isabel Portner was accepted to the PA Governors' School for Science (PGSS). The five week program, open to 11th graders, offers talented students the opportunity to participate in true scientific research and specialized scientific study. Isabel was selected from over 500 applicants. Typically PGSS is held at Carnegie Mellon, however continued COVID restrictions mean it will likely be held on Zoom. (FYI, Isabel attended TREES as a 9th grade student.)
Calvin Lo and Annetta Yuwono finished in the top 25 of April's MYSO competition run by National Science Olympiad. MYSO tests the knowledge of students across the nation on a rotating monthly topic. April's topic was Plants, and Calvin and Annetta's placement was quite a feat.
We're excited to have Masterman students continuing to excel in the Science fields and we look forward to the numerous ways their hard work and dedication will change the world. Congratulations to them all!

Competition starts at the city level, advances to the state level and then to a national competition. Congratulations to the following students who have placed at the state level!
