Please Help Us By Taking This 5-Minute Survey!
District 117 Students, Families & Community Members,
Hopefully, you have seen some of our updates on our new strategic plan and District 117 Portrait of a Graduate over the last year!
One of the goals of our new strategic plan is to evaluate and enhance the way we communicate important news and updates about our schools, students, and staff to maximize appropriate visibility.
Understanding that our community is diverse and that everyone has unique preferences for how they receive information, we aim to focus our communication efforts on appropriate channels that most people will see. Whether it's celebrating our students' achievements, sharing updates from our faculty, or announcing upcoming events, we want to ensure that our messages reach you in the most accessible and preferred manner.
To achieve this, we kindly ask for a few moments of your time to complete this SURVEY. Your insights will play a significant role in developing our communication strategy, ensuring that we stay connected in ways that are the most convenient, appropriate, and preferred by you!
Thank you for your participation and ongoing support of District 117!
Jeff Feucht, Ed.D.
Superintendent

College Admissions Info You Should Know- An opportunity to learn from the experts in the field.
Jeff Selingo, author of "Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions," will be hosting a presentation of the same name, Wednesday, April 24th, 7 pm- 8:30 pm, at Hinsdale Central High School, in Hinsdale, IL. "Who Gets In and Why?" is one of the best resources out there for learning about how and why students are admitted to a variety of colleges/universities. Register for the presentation using the following link.
A description of the program can be found below:
It’s the question on the minds of teenagers and their parents everywhere: how do colleges select their freshman class? For an entire admissions cycle, Selingo was embedded in three admissions offices and followed a group of high-school seniors through the process as well as players behind the scenes, including the marketers, the financial aid consultants, and the rankers.
Selingo dispels the entrenched notions of how to compete and win at the admissions game, reveals why families have much to gain by broadening their notion of what qualifies as a “good” college, and explains how the Covid-19 pandemic will impact admissions in the long run.

FAFSA Update for the Class of 2024
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024- 2025 academic year is now open. Once the FAFSA is complete it will produce a Student Aid Index (SAI) (formerly Expected Family Contribution (EFC)). The SAI will appear as part of your FAFSA Submission Report (formerly known as Student Aid Report (SAR)).
At this point in time completion of the FAFSA is not producing the FAFSA Submission Report and colleges/universities cannot upload the information. It is estimated that this information will be available to them until “mid-March.” As a result you may find that institutions are pushing back their candidate reply dates from May 1 to May 15 or June 1.
As seniors are completing non-institutional scholarship applications some are requiring their SAI number. If the FAFSA submission report is not available, please feel free to use the following FAFSA Estimator. https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator/ This tool will produce an estimated SAI that can be used for scholarship applications.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Bargar at nathan.bargar@chsd117.org or 847-395-9388 with any questions that you may have.
Class of 2024 College Transcript Information
Official transcripts are now available for the class of 2024. Seniors can request their transcripts by clicking the following link. A District 117 email is required to complete the form. This form and all other resources needed for completing college applications can be found in the "Classwork" section of the Class of 2024 College and Career Center Google Classroom.
Career Connect
