Changes to the School Calendar
A message to RSD Families:
In order to recapture a portion of missed instructional hours for students due to the recent snow days, we will need to extend the school year by a day and a half. This means, Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, 2019 will both be FULL school days.
Again, the last day of school for students, kindergarten through 11th grade, will be a full day with regular release times on Friday, June 14, 2019.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during our snow days and for being awesome families to serve.
See the updated 2018-19 calendar here tiny.cc/RevisedRSDCalendar.
Tips to help your student maintain consistent school attendance
- Make school attendance a priority.
- Talk about the importance of showing up to school every day.
- Help your child maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
- Try not to schedule dental and medical appointments during the school day.
- Don’t let your child stay home unless truly sick. Complaints of headaches or stomachaches may be signs of anxiety.
- Stay on top of academic progress and seek help from teachers if necessary.
- Stay on top of your child’s social contacts. Peer pressure can lead to skipping school, while students without many friends can feel isolated.
- Check on your child's attendance to be sure absences are not piling up.
- Ask for help from school officials, afterschool programs, other parents or community agencies if you’re having trouble getting your child to school.

AVID Elective Student Recruitment
What is AVID Schoolwide and how does it help students?
Taking an active role in monitoring your child's progress at school is strongly encouraged and will greatly boost your child’s chance for success in the future. You are a very important member of your child’s educational team and we look forward to working with you.
The best way to keep track of your son or daughter’s academic progress is to actively check your ParentVUE account. ParentVUE allows you to monitor your child’s attendance, assignments, and current grades. If you have concerns while checking ParentVUE please reach out to the teachers as soon as possible. It is easier to maintain a good grade than it is to dig out of a hole. Please contact the school if you need assistance in setting up your account. Thank you for your partnership and support.
