PTA News
Welcome to a new school year! The PTA held its first general meeting on Tuesday evening, September 8th. Many board positions were confirmed and can be viewed on northbeachelemantary.org under the PTA tab.
We are excited about the newly formed equity committee to serve North Beach and other area schools. Volunteers are still needed in chair positions or help in areas of your interest. Please email us at volunteernorthbeachpta.org to learn about opportunities, both big and small, to help our school community. There was a great brain storming session creating ideas of how to keep our students socially involved virtually outside the classroom and keep positive school spirit up.
Stay posted for news on these fun events. Additionally, we are initiating a support group to listen to parents, provide education on virtual learning, share experiences, and address concerns. Times are uncertain and challenging, but the PTA sees opportunity to provide even greater support to our school team and the surrounding community this year. Wishing you and your families health and resilience!

North Beach Elementary is a Meal Distribution Site
North Beach Elementary is a meal distribution site for Seattle Public Schools. Every Monday through Friday from 11:15 – 1:15 you can pick up a tasty meal prepared by our central kitchen. On Fridays you can also pick up a bag of food for the weekend! This is available to all students and their families. There are no income restrictions and no cost. Just show up and pick up your meal!
Because of social distancing guidelines, families and students may not stay at school to eat.
If you have questions about the program, please call Winnie Lee, North Beach Lunchroom coordinator at 206-252-0900, or the North Beach office at 206-252-1510.
Advocate for North Beach & All Students in Washington!
Welcome to a new school year and a new chance to be involved in government! Last year, school board member Leslie Harris described education funding as a patchwork quilt. This is a perfect analogy to funding and all sorts of decisions that affect the families in Seattle Public Schools. Federal, State, City, and District resources and policies influence every aspect of our children’s education.
The PTA works to track issues, attend meetings, write letters, and build relationships with our representatives to advocate for your child and all children across Washington State. Get involved and find out more, email klabelle@gmail.com

Good news! Girls on the Run is looking for North Beach Elementary girls grades 3-5 for a fall VIRTUAL program!
What is Girls on the Run?
At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, fun activities and running games. Over the course of the program, girls in 3rd-5th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory (virtual) 5K event.
What better time to teach our girls these skills?
Scholarships are available.
The fall program starts September 28 and runs through November 16, with the end of season virtual "K Your Way" on November 14-15.
