A MESSAGE FROM MR. VOCE
WELCOME, MS. FUSSY!
Ms. Jennifer Fussy, Mora Elementary School Assistant Principal
It is my great pleasure to serve Mora Elementary students, families, and staff for the 2020-21 school year. Our first priority every day is to ensure each student is safe and feels like they are a part of our MES family. Our dedicated staff consistently enrich student lives and strive to ensure all students are engaged with their learning. At Mora Elementary School we ask our students to show their Mustang Pride with the three “be’s”: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe. Go Mustangs!
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time in regard to your child’s education. I look forward to meeting students and parents and working together to make this a great school year! You can contact me at 320-679-6203 or jfussy@moraschools.org
Here are some fun facts about me:
The 2020-21 school year is the start of my 27th year in education
This year is my first year as an Assistant Principal
I served the Mora District as QComp Co-Coordinator for one year
Mora High School’s Dean of Students for four years
Eight years as Mora High School’s FOCUS teacher
A Special Education Teacher at Mora Elementary and High School for 14 years
Coached girls basketball and softball
During my free time I have a deep passion for the outdoors. I enjoy enhancing my property to attract wildlife. When my work is complete, you can find me hunting just about anything or fishing the waters in northern Minnesota. I raise two children in the Mora School District and I thoroughly enjoy watching and supporting their passions. I enjoy reading literature that focuses on women that have made an impact and have paved the way for other women. Their stories have inspired me to fulfill my passion in leadership. I enjoy time with family and friends, especially if it’s playing cards together! Last but not least, I truly enjoy finding student’s strengths and helping them find their way through their educational journeys.
“I’d learned the single most important principle of teaching: they don’t care how much you know unless they know how much you care."

UPDATE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Please read the following:
This year, we will be following the guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). They have created a decision tree that is required for schools to follow. Here is the link for it (or see below) https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/exguide.pdf. Please note siblings and household members will be sent home too.
As in nursing, changes are ever evolving! They have updated the decision tree. This will be used for students and staff. The bottom line - PLEASE keep your child home if ill, even if it's a slight cough or a few sneezes. It is better to err on the side of caution. Any questions, please reach out to me.
***PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD IS STAYING HOME IF SICK***
We are requesting parents to take their student's temperature every evening and morning. If your child has a fever, PLEASE keep them at home. We will not be doing mass temperature screenings at the school. We are also requesting parents to self-screen their child every day prior to leaving for school. If you are able to check any of the boxes, PLEASE keep them at home.
All students and staff are required to wear masks in the buildings. Here are a couple of great links from the MN Children's Hospital which may be helpful:
How to make face masks more comfortable for kids
Breathing tips and mindfulness while wearing a mask
Another great tip - have your child practice wearing it at home while watching their favorite show or while riding in the car!
A provider's note will be required for medical exemptions for not wearing a mask at school OR the Family Flex plan is an option.
We will NOT be doing nebulizer treatments in the health office this year. Please reach out to the health office if you have any questions.
Immunizations are required, and we will be upholding exclusions on 9/8/2020 if your student is not up-to-date or we have not received a notarized exemption form. Students will be excluded on day one if they are not up-to-date with their immunizations.
PLEASE report to me, Anne Grahn (district nurse and COVID-19 coordinator), if you and/or someone in your family tests positive. Please communicate with me without worry of blame or shame with having this virus. It is okay, we are in this together. We are in a pandemic, and we all need to do our part to stop the transmission. Doing contact tracing will help, however, we need your help to do so. Please either call and leave a message for me at 320-679-6232 or e-mail me at agrahn@moraschools.org. We are all in this together!
