Principal's Message
Dear New Lebanon Families,
I cannot believe we are just one week away from the winter recess. The start of the year has been filled with so much excitement and success the days have just flown by. Next week, we invite you to attend our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 19th @ 7:00pm.
As of today, Greenwich Public Schools Magnet Application is officially live! We are looking to expand our magnet reach and welcome more families from across town to utilize the Magnet Application to join us at New Leb. The Magnet process into our Bobcat community offers families access to our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP). We appreciate all current families sharing this opportunity within their own personal networks and helping to strengthen our magnet numbers. A full brochure of Greenwich's Magnet Offerings is available today. You will see that we are hosting Open Houses for interested magnet families on January 16th at 6:00pm and January 17th at 8:15am.
Please remember that Friday, December 22nd is an early release day at 12:45. Note that both BANC & Family First are cancelled. Boys & Girls club will operate out of St. Rochs, where students must be picked up at 5:30pm.
Yours in service,
Dr. Daniel Russo & Mrs. Lindsey Eisenstein
Principal & Assistant Principal

Books of the Month
December IB Learner Profile Trait of the Month: Open-Minded
Summary: Callie is very proud of her brother Charlie. He's good at so many things - swimming, playing the piano, running fast. And Charlie has a special way with animals, especially their dog, Harriett. But sometimes Charlie gets very quiet. His words get locked inside him, and he seems far away. Then, when Callie and Charlie start to play, Charlie is back to laughing, holding hands, having fun. Charlie is like any other boy - except he has autism. In this story, told from a sister's point of view, we meet a family whose oldest son teaches them important lessons about togetherness, hope, tolerance, and love.
Ways we can model open-mindedness for our young people:
Teach and model acceptance of differences
Encourage students to try new things – new foods, new games and new activities.
Expose students to different festivals, celebrations and traditions and be sure to present them in a non-judgmental way.
Encourage students to really listen to others when they speak.
Introduce literature about many different cultures into your home library. Be sure that it is appropriate and reflects the culture in an appropriate way.
Introduce students to other countries, cultures, and global issues.
