Student Council Shout out!
YOUTH VOLUNTEER AWARD
The 2023-24 Northbridge Middle School Student Council was nominated and has won the WCC's Charles E. Thompson Youth Volunteer of the Year Award for 2023. This award is typically given to an individual, but the Whitin Community Center team wanted to honor the NMS StuCo as a whole for all their volunteerism over this past year.
The criteria for this award is:
This award recognizes an individual under the age of 18 who has selflessly and enthusiastically volunteered time, effort and energy to advance the mission of the Whitin Community Center. With this award the WCC wishes to acknowledge a young person who truly does represent our future.
We are very proud of the work these students and advisors have done to support the children of our community.
Opportunity in behalf of the Northbridge Historical Society. - **SUNDAY**
The Northbridge Historical Society invites community members to attend a special presentation as part of their Northbridge Historical Society's Speaker Series.
The presentation titled "The 18th Century English Woman in England's Northern Colonies" explores various aspects of the lives of middling and working English women in the 18th century in New England's Northern Colonies before the American Revolutionary War. The program uses original material like written accounts, poems, diary entries, paintings, and objects to shed light on women's daily activities during this period.
Our presenter, Gail Usher, is an educator and researcher focusing on New England's early history and is the education coordinator for Historic New England's Connecticut school programs based at Roseland Cottage in Woodstock, Connecticut. Gail also manages Historic New England's school programs at Arnold House in Lincoln, RI. She is chairperson of the Woodstock Historic District Commission and volunteers for local historical organizations. Ms. Usher's programs are grounded in original material and focus on the personal experiences of the people who lived during the tumultuous 17th and 18th centuries in New England. Her independent research centers on Indigenous and European immigrant women in this period.
This special presentation is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 2 PM at Memorial Town Hall's Selectboard Room, 7 Main Street, Whitinsville, MA. The presentation is free, and seating is limited. To reserve a seat(s), please email Folloni1908@gmail.com by February 29, 2024. You will receive a confirmation by return email. This presentation is made possible by a grant from the Northbridge Cultural Council, a local organization funded by the MA Cultural Council.

Cell Phones
The new district wide phone policy this year has significantly contributed to improved attendance and student achievement. However, we've noticed cell phones re-emerging, and it's crucial they remain in their Yondr pouches. We'll be verifying attestation forms this week; if your child no longer brings a phone, kindly sign and submit the form to the office. Thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining a focused learning environment.
