2-Hour Delay Schedule
New Year's Resolutions
- First and foremost will be stay true to our health mitigation protocols (see COVID section below).
- We are also asking for your help with students during transitions being appropriate in the bathrooms, cleaning up after themselves at lunch and breakfast, and limiting hallways passes.
- If students are walkers, we must be better when we are unsupervised on the walk home.
- Talking about how students are using their phones outside of school is an important conversation for each family to have.
- Lastly, the semester close is right around the corner. Now is the time to look at Schoology and StudentVUE/ ParentVUE to make sure all assignments are complete.
Yes, we have places to improve. Don't let that get away from the true message. Our behaviors have been excellent. Not perfect, but after a very odd year prior, we are learning from our mistakes and still have zero suspensions. We are very proud of the partnership and mutual respect we have fostered with families and will continue to make that a top priority.
COVID Updates
We encourage all students for whom it is medically appropriate to become fully vaccinated and receive the booster shot.
You MUST stay home when sick and report any positive cases of COVID-19 to the school nurse.
During school, especially during lunch, maximize physical distancing and get outside.
Wear your mask appropriately at all times.
Wash your hands frequently.
I plan to hold a parent coffee on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 11:00-11:45 AM. This will give us time to collect data as we return to school after the holidays. Please add any questions to this form in advance. The meeting will be virtual using this GOOGLE MEET LINK.
United Mental health Team (UMHT)
It is worthwhile to focus on our celebrations these holidays.
- Students Receive Bikes and Safety Kits from Law Firm - Loudoun Now
- Over 100 students in Sterling are sporting new wheels and bicycle helmets this holiday season, thanks to the law firm Abrams Landau. Abrams Landau, Maverick Bikes, and the Safe Routes to School program distributed bikes to students on Monday at Seneca Ridge Middle School and Tuesday at Countryside Elementary School.
- Between the PTO Giving Tree and Seneca Ridge donations, we were able to distribute gift bags which included spirit wear and multiple gift cards to so many of our students in need during the holidays. Thank you for your generosity!
Course Selections
- English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers make recommendations for honors or academics (math courses are a little more complicated).
- 7th Graders get two electives: 45 minute music or art and a 90 minute course.
- 8th Graders get two full 90 minute electives.
- 7th and 8th graders can choose to take a World Language (Spanish, French, German, or Latin), which is a high school level course.
- May 1, 2022 is the final day a family can change elective choices. We base our schedule and staffing on these numbers, so we must hold tight to this deadline. Every year in August, we have repeated requests for changes that we cannot fulfill. Please be proactive with us and asking questions according to the timeline below.
