Material Distribution Pick Up for Virtual Learning
As we prepare for virtual learning beginning Monday, August 24th, we have scheduled a drive-thru process for families to pick up essential materials needed to support all students in grades PreK-5th grade. This includes manipulatives and resources students will need for their learning. Kindergarten material pick up will look different as Kindergarten teachers have been making appointments with their families for specific pick-up dates and times. On Monday, August 24, there will be no synchronous (live) instruction from 1:00-2:45 pm as many teachers will be a part of the material distribution. Pre-recorded lessons will be posted. Details regarding this process are listed below:
Dates/Times:
PreK and Grades 1-5:
Monday, August 24th from 1:00-3:00PM and 5:00-7:00PM
Tuesday, August 25th from 3:00-5:00PM

Pick Up Process:
Pick up will be from the gym doors. Please enter the back of the building off of Glenwood (playground area). You will follow the traffic flow towards the back gym doors. Canopy tents will be set up for each grade level where staff will be anxiously awaiting to get your child(ren) their materials and see lots of new and familiar faces. Please have your child(ren)’s name(s) and homeroom teacher ready to share or write it on a piece of paper so a staff member can call it out upon your arrival. If you are unable to come during the allocated times, please let your child’s teacher know and we will look to make other arrangements.
We look forward to seeing you next week and working with you this school year!.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
Morning announcements will be sent out via Seesaw each day by Ms. Dvorak and/or Mrs. Righter. There will be special guests stopping by as well from time to time. One of the things we do on Fridays is sing the Freeman School Song. Lyrics to follow along can be found below and will be sent out with announcements through Seesaw. This week, we will be singing them everyday as we practice our school song!

Student Attendance in Virtual Learning
With the nature of virtual learning, there will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning sessions, including scheduled small group sessions. All live sessions will be recorded and will be made available to students and parents if they are unable to attend. On a daily basis for student attendance, we will be assuming positive attendance for each student. If a student is not present for a live lesson and/or does not engage with assignments on Seesaw throughout the day, the student will be marked absent. Staff will maintain communication to follow up on items that may have been missed during the absence.
If a student is unable to participate in virtual learning for the day, please contact the office at 630-301-5002 to report their absence.
Updated School Supply Lists
School supply lists have been updated to identify items that will be helpful to have at home for the Virtual Learning Experience. Please note that many items are the same for different grade levels and can easily be shared by siblings. You likely may already have some of the supplies at home. https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1596808466/sd129org/lx4q51ifanitll6rdrwp/supplyflyerVirturalELEM-20-21.pdf
SD129 Food Distribution: New sites added
West Aurora School District 129 is proud to announce that the current food distribution program will continue to be served daily, Monday-Friday, from 10 am-1 pm. Starting on August 24th, we will be now hosting 11 sites for food distribution, including Freeman Elementary School.
As a reminder, all district students are eligible for free meals daily.
What is a Mustang Mindset?
At Freeman we have a Mustang Mindset. We display the mustang mindset through respect, responsibility, and a right attitude. When we show the 3Rs, mustangs are ready to learn. This school year we will be sharing a Mustang Mindset each week through Ms. Dvorak and Mrs. Righter's morning announcements. We will talk about how we can work to display those mindsets, include lessons, and even read alouds.
