Knightly Update May 9, 2021
Edition Vol 9 Issue 38
Happy Mother's Day! I hope all our ACP moms are having a wonderful day and being pampered by their children. Enjoy your day!
As we enter the final weeks of the year, please remember to review your child's academic progress via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. We are monitoring student progress as a site, but it is helpful when we work as a team to avoid any surprises. Encourage your child to continue working diligently and to finish the year strong.
Speaking of finishing the year, we do have a few events to look forward to. First, is our Class of 2021 Awards Night. This event will be held in person in our gym on Tuesday, May 18th at 6:00 PM. Due to seating limitations, only two guests per senior may attend this ceremony. The ceremony will be livestreamed and recorded so other family members can watch the event and enjoy the celebration.
Our underclass Awards Night will be available via our school's YouTube channel on Thursday, May 20th and will go live at 6:00 PM. Students will be recognized for their academic efforts; the Class of 2021 and our Student of the Year will also be acknowledged in the recording. A link will be sent to all families on the 20th and the video will remain available on our YouTube channel for your viewing convenience.
Finally, the Class of 2021's Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 27th at Perry High School's John Wrenn Stadium at 7:30 PM. There is no limitation to the number of guests that may attend this year's graduation. Families of graduates will be permitted into the stadium at 6:45 PM and general admission will begin at 7:00 PM. I look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021 on the 27th.
As a reminder, our seniors will be taking their final exams on Thursday, May 20th and Friday, May 21st. There is NO early release schedule either of these days. School will begin and end as usual (i.e. 7:45 AM & 2:35 PM). On Friday, May 21st we will honor the Class of 2021 as they exit our campus for the final time with our Senior Clap Out. Families are welcome to attend and watch their child leave ACP one last time. It will be a bittersweet but proud moment.
Underclassmen will be taking their final exams on Wednesday, May 26th and Thursday, May 27th. Due to final exams, all students will be released at 12:25 on both days. As always, no final exams may be administered early. Bussing will be provided for students who utilize district transportation. If you have any questions about the final days of the school year, please contact our office.
I hope you have a very nice week. Thanks again to all our ACP moms for all you do to support your child(ren) over the course of the year. Enjoy your special day and have fun celebrating all that is great about being a mom. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Important COVID-19 Reminders
Please remember students should not come to school if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are waiting for test results, or have been in close contact (within 3 feet of a person with COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period or had physical contact with a person with COVID-19, you need to stay in quarantine at home for 14 days). Parents need to report this to our nurse, Mrs. Hughes.

CUSD Mask Update
As stated in the Governor’s press release on April 19, “K-12 school districts and charter schools still maintain the right to institute and enforce policies to mitigate against COVID-19 spread including the use of masks.”
In a special session Wednesday evening, the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board reviewed the most current information, CDC and public health recommendations, and comments from the community related to the mitigation strategies that have successfully allowed us to return to in-person learning on January 19. In order to finish out the school year strong, hold safe in-person graduation ceremonies, and continue to minimize community spread of COVID-19 on our campuses, the governing board voted to modify our current mask policy beginning Monday, April 26. The mask policy still requires all students in grades PK-12 to wear masks while indoors. In grades PK-6 masks are optional during outdoor activities. In grades 7-12 masks are optional during all supervised outdoor PE classes.
If the CUSD infection rate remains low, effective May 31, 2021 masks will be optional moving forward, beginning with Summer School.
The superintendent will have the authority to make adjustments as needed. All other mitigation strategies currently in place will remain at least through the end of the school year. Thank you for your continued support of our prevention strategies, which will enable us to finish the school year strong, healthy, and safe.
