Welcome to Fourth Grade
The First Full Week for the Fabulous Foremans!
Starting "Real School" This Week
One of the students referred to our schedule today as "real school" so I thought it would be fitting to go with that theme for the first newsletter. Today marked our true times for math, language arts, writing and social studies in their day and I felt that the formal schedule was good for everyone. Today students also brought home their Monday folders for the first time. There isn't much in it, but they need to get in the habit of giving it to you and having you sign or initial it and returning it by the following Monday. I will send most papers home in the Monday folder. All tests are to be signed and returned so I can see that the students shared them with you. This week we are all taking our spelling assessments to start placing students in word study groups. In addition, we will take our math pre-assessment on Wednesday. This test is not for a grade but helps guide the fourth grade teachers properly place students in the math class that will provide them with the support they need.
Back-to-School Night, Thursday 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Brownsville teachers asked for an earlier Back-to-School night this year so we would not have to wait nearly a month to review with parents our classroom procedures and focus. I hope you can join me for one of the two sessions this Thursday. I will be talking about expectations for students, parents and me. If you are not able to join us, I can send you the presentation after the evening and answer any questions you may have.
However, if you ever have a question or a concern, please do not hesitate to contact me no matter how small you think it is. I will never fault a parent for wanting to advocate for their child, because I would do the same for my children.
