Hieroglyphics
Hieroglyphics were created in Egypt not Mesopotamia. Hieroglyphics were usually written on papyrus and stone. These symbols are pictures of objects that represent words and sounds. Hieroglyphics were created for reading, writing, and telling stories about people who have served in war. Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics.

Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform
Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform we both created in 3500 B.C. Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform are both ancient writing because no body uses either of the writings. They both used Pictographs and symbols.
Cuneiform
Cuneiform writing was developed in Mesopotamia to keep track of records. It consisted of wedged-shaped symbols. The oldest form of literature is the story called Epic of Gilgamesh. Cuneiform was written on clay tablets. To write in the clay, they had to use a reed that grew on the side of the Nile River to make the symbols. Cuneiform was created to keep track of records. The Babylonians and Assyrians used cuneiform.
