LRC News Update
February 2016
What's new?
Juvenile Fiction Collection These books are located in white baskets near the Tech/LRC and speech offices. These chapter books focus on our bridging readers. They typically are short, have illustrations on many pages, and allow the eye to rest between words. These books have the call # JF and most have lexiles printed on the last line of the spine label.
Literature Circle Collection We were going to wait until summer but since we were working with the books to allow the walls to be painted, we decided to get a head start on this project. We have shared our collection with you to access at home and have done our best to provide you a guide to each book's level or lexile. Our shelf markers list the books in order by GLE (Grade Level Equivalency) and have Founas & Pinnell levels printed on them. Our next steps will be to put them in F&P leveled ordered to help you locate your books more effectively and efficiently. We will also try to update the barcode to discretely show the level.
Class Sets Our class set collection has also been updated. These books are in alpha order by title. We have done our best to provide a Fountas & Pinnell level, lexile, or some sort of grade level equivalency to help you select the best books possible for your students. You might also notice a star next to some titles. A starred titled means the book has been recognized as "Best of Titlewave" meaning it is a very popular title with high sales, reviews and awards. (labels coming soon!)
A HUGE thanks goes out to Maureen who created the linked spreadsheets, Amy and our volunteers: Julie (Kindergarten mom), Lynn (Congress Park grandmother), Tracy (Odgen mom), and Kate (our very own Resource Teacher) for all their help in making these projects happen. We would still be in the beginning stages without their support!

What do these symbols all have in common?
They are a start to help you connect to the world!
