LeadershipFirst Newsletter
Hey, all you wonderful peeps!
Another month has come and gone! Hard to believe, but do you realize we are already a third of the way through this "new" year??? I know, right? We had an amazing Lenten season and an awe-inspiring Holy Week. We are Children of Hope, so let's take this renewal and be energized by its power!
Once again, you are called to the fold to see all the amazing opportunities our church has for you to flex those Leadership Skills!
Remember, most importantly, that this is not just a call out for you to fill... these are call-outs for you to help "Lead" people to fill these fabulous roles and opportunities! So, please read all the various items in here and think to yourself, "Who do I know who would be perfect for this?" Don't fret, if that IS you, then that is ok as well!
Blessings!

StoryTellers Project Retreat
Hey LF Alumni! Here is a good one... This is a project that is teaching you some amazing skills and allowing you to use them to assist the church to tell its story via its members! Read on and think about it! #hc
Saturday, May 13, 9 am - 3 pm, Ogden Fellowship Hall & Orr Music Suite
Telling a good story starts with finding a good story. This one-day retreat sponsored by the StoryTellers Project of FUMCR will help you develop the tools for finding the stories worth telling that are around you everywhere you go.
Whether in an impromptu meeting or in a planned interview, discover ways to ask questions that lead to storytelling, and learn about the logistics and technology to make capturing those stories easy for sharing.
Sessions led by Kevin Burns (Communications Associate); Frances Long (FUMCR Historian); Kent Roberts (Highland Park UMC Historian); Rev. Fred Trevino (Associate Pastor); Walter Evans (Retired News Anchor).
All participants completing the one-day retreat will have the opportunity to take part in the Summer StoryTeller's Project called "People + Faith = Hope" where will be collecting stories to share with FUMCR this fall.
Cost: $10 (Lunch and refreshments will be provided.)

Children's Summer Sunday School Teachers are needed!
You have heard Clayton asking in service, there have been inserts in the bulletins, as well as blurbs on the monitors and in the hallways! But we need your help!
We're gearing up for summer! As you know, it takes many helping hands to fully staff our children’s Sunday School program and some of our regular volunteers take a much-needed break during the summer months so that they can teach again in the Fall.
So, are you willing to volunteer in our Sunday School program this summer?
Our summer program is very easy to follow with provided hands-on activities for all ages (3-year-olds through 6th grade).
Please contact Laura Evans if you are able to volunteer this summer for this six-hour time commitment. She will work with you to plan a schedule that works around your vacations or other summer commitments. This is a short time commitment that can have a powerful impact on our children and you!
Please prayerfully consider volunteering in Children’s Sunday School! Thank you!

Genesis Sunday School class
okay, okay...you got me... so it is not the Genesis you see in the pic... BUT....rather some info from our own Genesis Class!
The Genesis Class has begun a ten-week study entitled Twelve Ordinary Men, led by Dr. John Moody, and we would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone looking to find a Sunday School class. IF you could pass the word on this study, that would be great, we do not want anyone to miss out!
This study will dive into the twelve disciples and how God uses ordinary people for extraordinary things. Genesis meets in Rm 206 from 9:45 - 10:45, is comprised of married couples in their 30's - 40's, mostly parents of young children.
If you have questions or would like more details, please contact Adam Fullington (adam.fullington@gmail.com).
