Animated American History Timeline
During the AM1/2 Collaboration session, there was discussion on how to help students understand events that overlap (Progressives and Imperialism). While creating a timeline that the students will fill out as the course goes on is a great idea, there is an animated map that could be used as well.
Animated World History
This animated map takes you through the development of various civilizations, empires, and countries in World History.
World History
It is time to grow some empires. Remember, the lenses for the Empires unit include trade, culture and achievements. The objectives focus on the rise and fall of empires, particularly as a result of trade, and the lasting impacts of empires. Here is a graphic organizer that could be used to help students interpret the objective. And, here are some formative assessment questions that could be used for the unit.
Thinking ahead to the Enlightenment. Yanawi Quinones found this timeline activity for Enlightenment Philosophers.
Civics and Economics
We are headed into Federalism. Be sure to examine the whole aspect of the objectives in the unit. The objectives require students to take information beyond the basic structure of the government. It is more about applying the information and connecting the structure of the government to the purpose for government and the principles of democracy. Here are some formative assessment questions that could be used in the first part of the unit. And, here is a hands on activity that helps students apply the information they are learning.
American 1
This week we are wrapping up Unit 1 and heading into Unit 2, on with the Revolution. If you are looking for some readings to use with these units, there are several located in the Primary Source and Reading folders. Here is what is available for Unit 1 and here is what is available for Unit 2. Thanks to Scott McAbee for adding to the folder during the AM1/2 collaboration session.
When looking at the American Revolution, don't forget to include information on how people of African decent played a role in the war.
America 2
The Gilded Age and Progressives are in full swing. There are numerous readings available in the Primary Resources and Reading folder for this unit. Included in the folder is an excerpt from The Jungle. There is even a reading activity all ready to go using an excerpt of Carnegie's "Wealth and Its Uses", thanks to Anna Kirby for sharing.
