Parent Update October
Principal's Message for October
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well as we enter the month of October. As we continue our academic journey, I would like to emphasize the importance of having our students in their seats and ready to learn by 7:35 AM. This is particularly crucial because they either start their day with math or English Language Arts (ELA) class. Being punctual ensures that our scholars can maximize their learning time and start their day off on the right foot.
I kindly request that during drop-off, parents use the left lane only for parking their cars. If you need to exit the vehicle, please refrain from forming two lanes. Additionally, I urge you not to wait and watch your children walk all the way to the doors. This helps maintain a smooth flow of traffic and ensures the safety of all our students.
Dismissal time is at 1:55 PM, and we have noticed that it has been much smoother lately. With your cooperation in being on time, we can usually have all students out by 2:05 PM. Your punctuality greatly contributes to the efficiency of our dismissal process.
I would like to inform you that communication with teachers for students in grades K through 4 can be done through ClassDojo. Starting next week, grades 5 through 8 will also begin using ClassDojo as a means of communication. This platform enables parents and teachers to stay connected and collaborate effectively.
Regular attendance is of utmost importance for our scholars. We have identified students who require additional support in their learning and have created intervention groups to provide them with extra time in small group settings. This targeted intervention is designed to help them achieve proficiency according to the Ohio state standards. When students miss a day of school, they miss out on this invaluable time that can significantly impact their academic progress throughout their entire school career.
This year, we have introduced a new math program called Zearn. Students in grades 5 through 8 should aim to complete three lessons per week, totaling 90 minutes. Zearn is an online program that can also be accessed from home.
For grades 5 through 8, completion of these lessons will be graded, and students may lose points in math if they do not meet this requirement.
Now, let's take a look at some exciting upcoming events for the month of October:

Warm regards,
Principal George
