Monday, 2/24 6th Grade Ocean Ambassadors Field Trip
Our 6th graders are all going to the Bay on Monday. We will be having 2 departure times, one right at 8:15 and another to follow at 10:15. Thanks to Katy and Ian for all of their hard work. If you have any questions please let them know.

We are hosting 2 playoff games on Monday. Our Girls B team will be taking on Diablo View starting at 3:30 and the Boys B Team will take on Pine Hollow immediately after. Students wishing to watch the game must be accompanied by an adult. Our students would LOVE to see you out there and it would be great to have our staff turn out to support them!
Wednesday, 2/26 Teacher Discretionary Meeting
This Wednesday, meetings are Teacher Discretionary. PLCs will be meeting from 1-2 and you can continue to work together, collaborate with others, plan, grade , etc.
Counselor's Corner
To end Kindness Month, talk to your students about empathy. By explicitly teaching students to be more conscious of other people’s feelings, we can create a more accepting and respectful school community. Below are some conversation starters.
One way you can try to imagine what it feels like being in someone else’s shoes is to ask yourself, “How would I feel in this situation?” How else can you try to understand how others feel?
When you listen to others, making eye contact, not interrupting the speaker, and asking follow-up questions, you show that you’re making a genuine effort to understand what they’re going through. What other behaviors might show someone that you are being an empathetic listener?
How empathetic are you? Take this quiz to find, https://www.tolerance.org/sites/default/files/2017-08/teaching-tolerance-are-you-empathetic.pdf

This Week in AVID...
This Week in AVID - February 24, 2020
Scholarly Speaking activities teach students how to communicate effectively and comfortably in a variety of situations and help our English learners to develop their academic language. One-One-Two Minute Partner Share helps students develop their knowledge of their classmates, while concurrently allowing them to work on creative thinking and speaking skills. Also, be sure to check the primary level adaptation and the extension into course content at the end of this collaborative lesson plan.
