Third grade has been working all year on their Findlay project and as our adventures with Findlay have wrapped up, members of our community continue the impact. We will have speakers from various organizations and affiliations that impact Cincinnati, and its change over time.
Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati Reds
Perry Thacker and Bob Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame talked about the rich history of the Cincinnati Reds. The students hung on every word about the “firsts” of baseball that originated right here in Cincinnati. They observed specific artifacts from the Reds Hall of Fame dating back to the 1800’s. The students were very thankful to receive a poster of the Reds players in the Hall of Fame, a Fat Head, and various memoriabilia items.
Cincinnati Reds
Public Health Department
Matthew Clayton (Montgomery parent of Rowan), the Health Commisioner of Springdale, came to talk to the students about his role in problem solving within the community. The Public Health department has many important roles which serve the local community. They promote health and safety, disease prevention, health education, emergency preparedness, and are liason for stakeholders and partners to name a few. The students were impressed to learn how solutions are discovered when a community problem is presented. They were thankful to receive a flyer of information about healthy eating choices, and learning about 5 ways to be a healthier kid.
Findlay Market
Kelly Lanser of Findlay Market, treated each third grader to a reusable shopping bag and sticker. This will be useful for their next trip to Findlay Market (which we are certain they will be begging to go). The students were eager to hear about the beginning of Findlay Market and how it has changed and grown over time. Did you know Findlay Market (the largest farmers market in our region) is open all year round, and is a great place to talk to the farmers that grow your food? It’s that time of year to get local honey to help with your seasonal allergies. We are grateful for the generosity of Kelly, and Findlay Market.
Kroger
Dave Gibson (husband of Montgomery Elementary teacher, Kelly Gibson) talked about the change of Kroger over time, sales, career opportunities, innovations, and giving back to the community.

LUNCH ACCOUNTS
Attention parents! The end of the year is quickly approaching, and the Sycamore Child Nutrition Department is working hard to collect the debt on student's accounts before we are out for the summer. This year we are being generous and allowing students to charge at the k-6 buildings through the end of the year, but with that being said we need your help paying off overdue account balances. Please be diligent about checking to see if your child owes money. He/she can check at lunch, or you can get on your parent portal account and find the account balance there. You can also call the Child Nutrition office, and we can help you with any questions you might have. Any debt accrued during the 2017/18 school year WILL roll over to the
2018/19 year.
Thanks for your cooperation!
