Knightly Update February 13, 2022
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 28
We had a very exciting week. Our science department and Chief Science Officers put together an outstanding STEAM Carnival Friday evening, both our boys and girls soccer teams won their round one playoff game and earned their way to the second round of tournament play (results below), senior Aliyah Jones did a fine job presenting to the Governing Board on Wednesday about Black excellence in CUSD, our boy wrestlers fought hard at yesterday's sectional tournament having six boys qualify for state, our girl wrestlers have two state qualifiers, our speech and debate team did a fantastic job at their weekend tournament earning the championship trophy, and our basketball teams wrapped up their season. At times, it is hard to keep up with all the great things our students accomplish, and I am in awe of the talent that I see in and out of our classrooms. Proud of you, Knights!
With the Valentine's holiday right around the corner, students may wear red, white, or pink to school tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoys the day. Speaking of holiday's, please remember that school will not be in session next Monday, February 21st in honor of President's Day. Have a great three-day weekend.
From time-to-time, administration and teachers receive anonymous emails and notes from students and families. It is policy not to respond to anonymous messages. I realize there may be uneasiness associated with attaching one's name to a complaint, but please know that absolutely no retaliation of vindication will occur for sharing such concerns. We understand the necessity to share areas of concern, provide constructive criticisms, and to advocate for your child, but sending information anonymously impacts our ability to help. We are a team, and we will work as a team to listen to and resolve concerns to the best of our ability. After all, administration, along with the faculty and staff want our students, programs, and school to be as successful as possible. Thank you.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy your week and have a very nice Valentine's Day. Go, Knights!
Rob Bickes
Principal

ACP's STEAM Carnival was a SUCCESS!
On Friday, ACPHS celebrated our school's first STEAM KNIGHT. The event was attended by young and old, past and present students and many animals!! It was full of exciting booths including a "regular" petting zoo, reptile petting zoo, The Office of the Maricopa Superintendent, SciTech Institute, EpiHub, Microsoft, Arizona Science Center, ASU School of Life Sciences, Basha's Science is Fun, among many other organizations. We had displays by HOSA, Astronomy Club, SEDS Club, UNICEF, ACP's art students, Honors STEM Research, Math Club, Computer Club, Robotics to mention a few. An amazing display of projects that our student scientists have been working on for the last year were showcased highlighting the perseverance our students have in conquering the current pandemic and other challenges to complete their work.
We also had very special guests including The Superintendent for Maricopa County, Mr. Steve Watson and Chandler Councilwomen Chrsitine Ellis.
We would like to thank all the faculty that participated in the event at various capacities. Thank you's to Stugo, Link Crew, and Key Club for their support with volunteering throughout the event. Special thanks to the admin for their continuous support and making this possible.
ACP's STEAM Carnival would not have been possible if not for the effort of our Chief Science Officers who have been working tirelessly for the last 4months reaching out to vendors, making fliers, marketing the event, etc. Join us in thanking the our student CSO's:

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
