Message from Mrs. Wilken
Dear Stone Ranch Elementary School Community,
Spring is in full swing, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm our students bring each day. We had so much fun this past Friday at our Community Gathering.
As we embark on another exciting week of learning and growth, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our families who joined us for the recent Read-a-Thon. Your participation not only fosters a love for reading but also strengthens our sense of community here at Stone Ranch.
With Easter celebrations behind us, I hope our families that celebrate this holiday had a joyous and memorable time with loved ones. As we look forward, let's keep the spirit of unity and inclusivity alive in all that we do.
As a friendly reminder, our well-deserved Spring Break is just around the corner, from April 8th to April 12th. It's a time to recharge, relax, and create lasting memories. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.
PS Please join your fellow trailblazer parents and guardians at our annual Spring Fling fundraiser… BUY your tickets NOW!

Transfer Requests - FINAL HOUR!
We are in the final hour to submit a transfer request, for students who live in the Poway Unified boundaries and would like to attend a different Poway school. This includes incoming siblings of current students, students that have moved out of SRES boundary and wish to stay, as well as students who have not yet enrolled.
Transfer requests can be made on the Poway Unified website by clicking THIS link.
The transfer window closes on March 31st at 5 pm.
Continuing Students - FINAL DAY!
Today is the final day of Continuing Student Registration. All students returning to Stone Ranch next school year must submit an Online Continuing Student packet. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2024-2025 school year. This annual digital process allows a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.
Continuing Registration Steps:
Login and complete the digital registration packet via the online registration portal found here.
Review and complete any required forms located at the conclusion of the process. A packet is not considered finalized until this step is completed.
Please note: MEDICATION FORMS or ADDITIONAL SIGNED SITE SPECIFIC FORMS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED UNTIL SCHOOL BEGINS IN AUGUST FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR.

Attendance H.E.R.O.
Mrs. Dickey's 1st Grade Class
HERO
Ms. Hankins' 4th Grade Class
Congratulations to this week Attendance HERO's! Mrs. Dickey's 1st grade class, and Ms. Hankins' 4th Grade class, were Here Everyday Ready On time to learn! These classes had at least 95% of HERO students the past 2 weeks and received a special visit from Mrs. Wilken and Mrs. Otero, received a trophy, a $25 Amazon gift card for the teacher, a prize from the HERO box, AND had an extra recess! Keep up the great attendance, Trailblazers.
Please remember these tips:
- Avoid scheduling vacations when school is in session. They are considered unexcused absences.
- Build regular routines for bedtime and the morning.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school.
- Don’t permit missing school unless your child is truly sick. Use a thermometer to check for a fever. Remember that stomach aches and headaches may be signs of anxiety.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to help your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- Avoid medical appointments when school is in session.
- Keep a chart recording your child’s attendance at home. At the end of the week, talk with your child about what you see.
- Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Ask a family member, neighbor or another parent for help.
- Seek support from school staff or community groups to help with transportation, health problems, or no safe path to school.

Attendance & Health
Be a HERO - Learning Begins at 7:45 am
Teachers open their classroom doors at 7:40.
Students should be walking through the classroom door between 7:40 - 7:43 so that they are seated and read to learn when the school bell day begins at 7:45am.
Please help your learner arrive to school no later 7:38am.
Students who arrive to the classroom after the 2nd bell @ 7:45am will be marked tardy.
Absences
If your child(ren) will not be attending school, please notify our office by leaving a message on our 24 hr. absence hotline at (858) 521-0213. Provide your name and relationship to the child, your child's name and teacher, and the reason for their absence. If your child is sick, please provide detailed symptoms of their illness.
It is recommended that you test your child for Covid if these symptoms are present: congestion, runny nose, sore throat, headache, cough, fever, chills, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, loss of taste or smell. We only need to know if your child tests positive, and we will contact you.
If your child(ren) are sick, they may return if their symptoms are improving and they are free from fever/vomiting/diarrhea without medication for 24 hours before returning to school.
Thank you for your help in keeping our campus healthy and happy!
Food & Nutrition
PUSD provides breakfast and lunch to all students free of charge pursuant to the California Universal Meals Program. Free meals are available to all families, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility status.
Breakfast service will begin at 7:20 a.m. and end at 7:30 a.m. Students will report directly to the playground after eating breakfast. Students not eating breakfast need to arrive when the playground opens at 7:25 a.m.
Click here for Elementary breakfast menu | Click here for Elementary lunch menu
Meal program details are provided on the Food and Nutrition Department website at https://powayusdnutrition.com/. Families are still encouraged to submit a school meal application for free and reduced-priced meal benefits because this information may be used for other programs such as Federal and State funding for your school, reduced registration fees for academic tests, free or discounted fees for bus passes, ESS childcare, and athletic programs, discounted rates for internet service and many more! The application can be found online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/. Applications must be submitted on an annual basis.
For more information, please visit the PUSD Food and Nutrition Website.
More Than A Meal
Although all students now receive school breakfast and lunch at no charge, families are still encouraged to complete the More Than A Meal Free Application (formerly known as Free and Reduced Lunch Application).
Healthy Food Choices
School Breakfast and Lunch are great ways to help students eat healthy.
Our school policy states that families do not send in food treats for birthdays. If you want to celebrate a birthday, please consider ways other than food and please make sure you connect with your child's classroom teacher to see what their classroom policy or recommendation is.
All Classroom parties will follow nutritional guidelines from the District.
Yearbooks Are On Sale Now!
Responsibility Matters Policy
A friendly reminder to all families of our Responsibility Matters Policy.
Items that are forgotten (i.e. backpacks, water bottles, hats, umbrellas, etc.) will not be delivered to classrooms to preserve the integrity of instructional minutes and limit classroom distractions. Free school lunches and water are available to all students throughout the day.
** Unique needs and exceptional circumstances will be considered by the Office Staff.
