Early Release Schedule
Nipmuc Virtual Clubs and Activities Fair - Wednesday, November 18
Nipmuc will hold a virtual club and activities fair this Wednesday during WIN block. In order to help all students access the site and answer any questions, students will report to advisory (virtually) to check-in with their advisor, discuss the value of getting involved in clubs and activities at the high school, and have time to learn more about the club & activities available at Nipmuc. This time is especially important for our freshmen students who have not yet had the opportunity to connect with these opportunities. The link to the webpage that will house all of the club and activities information will be sent to all students via email prior to WIN block on Wednesday.
The Nipmuc Science Symposium
The science department would like to invite all students, parents, and community members to attend the (Virtual) Nipmuc Science Symposium! Nipmuc students have been working hard at research and design, community service, and topic-specific research this term and they will be showcasing their efforts on Wednesday, November 18th from 12:30 - 2 pm. Click here to learn more and access the links that will allow you to join students' presentations on Wednesday.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences have been rescheduled and will be held virtually this year. Teachers will be sending out sign-up documents via email to parents and guardians with 10-minute time slots for sign up.
Parents/Guardians will be provided with two options: December 8 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and December 9 from 12pm-2:30pm. Teachers will share their individual meeting links to access the conference on the sign-up form.
To accommodate conferences, students will have early release days on December 8 & December 9. Students in cohort 1 will meet in person on December 8 and will be dismissed at 10:45am. Students in Cohort 2 will learn asynchronously from 7:30 - 10:45am. Students in both cohorts will learn remotely (synchronous) on Wednesday, December 9. You can find the schedule for the week of conferences below.
A Message from the Nipmuc School Nurse
Per the MA Department of Public Health, influenza immunization will be required for all children 6 months of age or older who are attending Massachusetts child care, pre-school, kindergarten, K-12, and colleges and universities. The new vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All MURSD students will be expected to have received a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Also exempted are K-12 students who are homeschooled and higher education students who are completely off-campus and engaged in remote learning only. This new flu immunization requirement to enter school in January is in addition to existing vaccine requirements for all those attending child care, preschool, K-12, and colleges and universities in Massachusetts. Elementary and secondary students in districts and schools that are using a remote education model are not exempt.
Please forward documentation of your child’s flu vaccine to the school nurse prior to December 31, 2020.
Please click here for more information on the flu vaccine requirement.
Class of 2021 Fundraiser
The Class of 2021 is hosting an apparel fundraiser now through November 22 at midnight! New items included with all senior students’ names listed on the back are now available. Orders should be fulfilled prior to the holidays. Thank you from the Class of 2021 for your continued support.
Update on Winter Sports
As many are aware, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) came out with basic guidelines for the MIAA to begin to create rules and regulations that allow for each winter sport. We are expecting additional information from MIAA about what each sport will look like by the end of next week.
Additionally, our District Athletic Committee provides information about the schedule and timeline for each sport. At this point, winter athletics cannot begin prior to December 14 with competition most likely beginning after the first of the year.
Decisions about each sport will be made by the district athletic committee and at a local level with the superintendent, school committee, and local board of health.
Family ID will not be open for registration until we receive approval for winter sports.
Mr. Schmidt, Nipmuc Athletic Director, will continue to communicate as more information becomes available.
