Final Day to Purchase Gala Tickets/Tables!
We hope you can join us at our 9th Annual Art Gala! This year's event will be held at the beautiful Central Public Library on February 22, 2020 from 6:30 - 11:00 pm. We hope you can join us for this celebratory event. Our gala includes silent auction items, a live student art-work auction, a dance party, and a wonderful chance to support your school and mingle with other guests for a fun, festive night. Tickets and sponsorship packages will be on sale through tonight, January 31st. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year bringing in over $100,000 to support our global education at AIS, so thank you for being a part of that. We look forward to seeing you there!
AIS Sibling Social
What a fantastic time we had with our incoming AIS siblings! Silly Sparkles was, of course, a big hit. We look forward to welcoming the little brothers and sisters to AIS next year!
New Year Open House-Sat., 2/1, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Tomorrow morning, we will have an Open House for prospective families. We look forward to having them learn how special our school and community is. We are asking our Student Council members to join us and kick off the event. Student Council parents received an email with more information today. We always appreciate parent, student, and alumni participation as well. If you can come, thank you for signing up here.
MAP Assessments Continue Next Week
MAP Assessments will continue next week. Our students are doing a fantastic job. Make sure students eat well and get plenty of rest before their sessions.
100th Day of School! Spirit Night-Mon., 2/3, 5:00 - 9:00 pm
Hooray! Monday will be the 100th Day of School (eh...minus a couple of flu days). Come celebrate with us at Hat Creek in the Domain for our February Spirit Night from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Mention AIS at the register and drop your receipt in the AIS bucket at the register and they will generously donate 10% of sales back to our school. Hat Creek has a cool playscape and is very family friendly. We hope to see you there!
2019-2020 Family Satisfaction Survey – Deadline Extension to Mon., 2/3
We have extended the deadline to participate in our family satisfaction survey and trilingual book giveaway through Monday, February 3rd! As part of our commitment to continuous growth and improvement, we conduct annual surveys of our community in order to gain insight into our school and its programs. Our 2019-2020 Family Satisfaction Survey will remain open through Monday of next week. Thank you so much for your time and effort in providing us with your much-needed feedback. Families who participate in the survey have the option of entering our Trilingual Book Giveaway! At the end of the survey, you will be given details to enter the giveaway. Please remember to save these details. Because surveys are submitted anonymously, we will be unable to verify your submission in order to resend the giveaway details should you lose them. Of course, participation in this year's book giveaway is entirely optional. Thank you, as always, for your support of our community!
PTO Coffee - Tue., 2/4
The PTO is hosting a monthly coffee this month on Tuesday instead of Thursday at drop-off. Grab a cup in the lobby and mingle with other AIS families. We look forward to seeing you there!
Gala Wine Collection - Deadline Extended to Wed., 2/5
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all our families who have donated to our class wine cellars. If you haven't contributed yet, thank you for doing so by next Wednesday. Our awesome gala committee will then work on bundling them up for our silent auction.
The Owl Hour
Please check out the second volume of The Owl Hour by our 4è/8th grade AIS students! Good job to Joaquín, Alexandra, & Simón!
Coronavirus and AIS Contagious Disease Protocol
Our school’s leadership team is closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak that started in Wuhan, China in December 2019. While there have not been any confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Texas at this time, we recognize that this may be a source of concern for our community. As with any health-related concerns that affect the wider Austin community, we cooperate closely with local health authorities to keep AIS safe. After the flu outbreak earlier this school year, we have worked to refine and redocument our contagious disease protocol, a copy of which you will find by following this link.
With high importance placed on health and wellness in our community, we ask that parents and guardians ensure the continued health and safety of our students and staff by ensuring that contagious diseases remain off-campus. As a reminder, it is our school’s policy that any students or staff must stay out of school and not participate in any extracurricular activities until they are fever-free for 24-hours without the aid of fever-reducing medicine. By respecting this important protocol, you will help ensure the health and safety of our AIS Owl community.
