A Note from Dr. Miles...
Good morning Parents and Guardians!
I hope you all enjoyed the weekend and are ready for the week ahead. While the temperatures have been lovely for the soon to be winter's end, they are about to drop this week so please be sure that your child is appropriately dressed to withstand the cold mornings.
Let's continue to maintain the momentum of Read Across America by having your child read 15-20 minutes each night. I hope you have been enjoying reading with or to them. The message is the same...PLEASE partner with us to ensure that all of our students gain, maintain, and sustain proficiency in reading, especially our K-2 students who are learning to read.
Come on out on Thursday, March 21st to the Title 1 Literacy Night and see the great work of our students in the Literacy Showcase. It will be held here ar KH, from 6-8 p.m.
Tuesday, March 19th: You are cordially invited to attend the Title I Kings Highway Literacy Showcase Open House from 6-8 PM this Thursday, March 21st.
Sunday, March 24th: Please reminded that your family reading bingo boards are due by Monday, March 25th to be eligible to win a family reading basket.
Fun Fact for Women's History Month: Women have come a LONG way! In 1866, Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the first woman to run for the U.S. House of Representatives, even though she was not eligible to vote. We now have three women who have been nominated for vice president; one of them, Kamala Harris, currently serving as the first Black and South Asian vice president.
ABSENCES: YOUR CHILD'S PRESENCE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO US!
Parents please be advised that when your child is absent from school, you MUST have a note explaining their absence when they return. You have three days to have the note into the office. If a note is not received in that time, it becomes an ILLEGAL/UNLAWFUL absence. You may send the note directly to the attendance secretary Ms. Kenisha Archey-Cole at archeycolek@casdschools.org. Sending notes with your child may not be received as they may forget to give them to their teacher.
Thank you,
Dr. Miles
