ACES Family Update
Published by Anderson-Crawford Elementary January 8, 2023
Welcome to 2023!
Hello ACES Families,
Such an excellent week welcoming students back to the building and ramping up for the second semester.
The beginning of the year is a great time to reflect on the year just ended and to make plans and resolutions for the New Year. As we do that here at school we would like to remind our families of the importance of consistent attendance to student learning. Studies find that students who are absent lose opportunities to learn and are at higher risk for negative outcomes. Even the most effective teacher can not impact a student who is not present in class, and one of the best indicators of future student achievement is student attendance.
So this year, 2023, we would like to encourage our families to make a concerted to effort to see that our students attend regularly and are on time for class. We are happy to work with you to overcome obstacles to attendance and hope to see your child at school every day. The school district has resources that we can call upon to help with some situations and our Social Service Managers help parents navigate difficulties.
We know that emergencies and illnesses happen, and at times absences are unavoidable. In those cases please contact Mrs. Higdon at 907-372-3306 to let her know that your child will not be attending school for the day.
We want our students and families to have a strong connection to school and to enjoy their time here in Alaska. Coming to school regularly helps to strengthen these bonds. For our families, taking part in our very active PTO and coming to our evening events is another way to support connection and good attendance. We hope to see all of our families here regularly!
Take care and I will see you in the car line!
