12th-grade immunization requirement
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Iowa law requires all students entering 12th grade to have received two doses of meningococcal conjugate (MCV4) vaccine; or 1 dose if received when the student was 16 years of age or older.
Please check your child’s immunization record or call their healthcare provider to determine if they have received these vaccines and make an appointment if necessary. Additional resources:
Johnson County Public Health provides immunizations to children with or without health insurance, please call 319-356-6042 to make an appointment.
If your child does not have insurance, they may qualify for an appointment at Healthy Kids School-Based Clinic. Call or text 319-631-3204 to see if you qualify for an appointment.
According to state law, students will not be able to start school on the first day of 12th grade without proof of having received at least one dose of this vaccine or a qualifying medical or religious exemption. It is important to contact your healthcare provider soon, as summer appointments fill up quickly.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help finding a way to get this requirement completed.

Tate Student to EdRising Conference in Washington DC!
Congratulations to Leslie Acevedo, who was selected to be one of six students in the district to attend the national EdRising Conference in Washington DC this summer!
Construction Apprenticeship Fair
The presenters at the Construction Apprenticeship Fair loved our students because they asked questions and participated. We have a few students who are serious about going into the skilled trades next year so this trip was a huge success.
Kirkwood Community College Visit
The number of students who visited Kirkwood this year was a lot smaller (Monday field trips are tough), but the group that went got to see a lot of the campus on a beautiful day. They toured the nursing area, skilled trades area, and made sure to stop by the Kirkwood Hotel to check out the Culinary Program for Roman Clark.

Staff Spotlight
Ms. Herrig for Staff's Way of the Warrior.
Congratulations to Jill for being our inaugural The Warrior Way Staff Celebration!
Staff say: "Jill always has new positive affirmations on her board that greet students daily. I enjoy reading them each day as well:) She greets everyone at the door each period as they enter the classroom to make them feel seen. Jill sits & works with students (one on one) who are struggling so they have the help then need to be successful in her classes. She also has extreme patience with struggling students. She's also really good with handing out tickets:)"
