Physical Education - Mr. Doody
Kids Heart Challenge Assembly
Students in grades DK-5 kicked off this years' Kids Heart Challenge by welcoming back the Huda Heat Jump team from Franklin. It was a good time had by all!
Jump Roping
The students in grades K-5 worked on their jump roping skills in a variety of ways. Single jumps, partner jumps, group jumps, and long rope jumps were practiced.
Fitness Month
Students in grades 3-5 were assessed in many different fitness areas such as muscular strength (Pull Ups), muscular endurance (flex arm hang), abdominal strength (Sit Ups), flexibility (Sit and Reach), agility (Standing Long Jump), and speed (Shuttle Run). The students' scores were documented and will be sent home at the end of the year. Two tests will be conducted outside once the weather clears up. The 1/2 mile run and the 50 yard dash. The top boys and girls from most of these tests will move on to the Junior Olympics.
Congrats to Sadie J for breaking the girls shuttle run record!
Dice Jump
In the game Dice Jump, students form teams and one student roles a dice at their home base. Another student on the team must perform the amount of jumps the dice lands on before running to the middle of the gym to collect a token for the team. The objective is to collect as many tokens for your team before the time runs out.
