Hello Cougar Families –
I hope you all have a wonderful spring break! As a reminder, we are off all next week to return to school on Monday, April 8th.
This week is Spirit Week! We have a couple of spirit days left: Thursday: Neon Day - Find a way to incorporate a neon or bright color into your outfit. Friday: Cougar Pride Day - Show off your Cougar Pride!
We hosted our “Real Talk” episode on post-secondary options last night. As soon as the recording is available, we will post it on our websites.
We still are looking for topics for April and May’s episode, so please complete our quick parent survey with your topic ideas: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=SjFBxa4qrEGNKFrTD7U-0ROtxw9V9mlHlU9xI-sC02FUME5XQzlYVkwxNDdZQU1YSFI4QjE3VzJEUC4u
Our final season of sports is right around the corner. Spring Season is Track & Field at the middle school. If your student wants to participate in Track & Field, there is still time to sign up. Lakewood Middle school uses FinalForms in the athletic registration and the link can be found here: https://www.lwsd.wednet.edu/Page/294. If you have any questions, please contact Courtney Farr, Athletic Secretary (cfarr@lwsd.wednet.edu) or Jim Barth, Athletic Director (jbarth@lwsd.wednet.edu).
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Amanda Coté
Principal, Lakewood Middle School

Learn about Lakewood's April 23 levies
Proposition 1: Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy
Supporting student learning across Lakewood School District is our primary focus. The EP&O Levy assists by funding programs that support reading intervention, enrichment, career exploration and technical skills to meet the needs of all learners. Approval of this replacement levy will not change the current tax rate.
Proposition 2: Capital Improvements and Safety Levy
The new Capital Improvements and Safety Levy will replace failing communication systems. Examples of these systems include fire alarm, intercom, and clocks in two of our buildings (Lakewood Middle and English Crossing).
This levy will also ensure all exterior school doors are locked, equipped with keyless entry, and foot traffic is funneled to a single point of entry. This will increase security for Lakewood students and staff.
