Purple Up Day is April 17! Purple is the official color of the military child. It is a combination of all the colors of the United States Armed Forces. Purple Up Day will be recognized by the VDOE and other state agencies on April 17, 2024. This is an opportunity to honor military children from all branches of the military by wearing purple.
MWES' School Improvement Goal:
Decrease Chronic Absenteeism Below 15%
by the End of the Academic Year!
We appreciate all your hard work in reducing chronic absenteeism and ensuring our attainment of full accreditation this year. Our aim is to keep chronic absenteeism below 15% by the end of the academic year. Currently, 15% of our students have experienced chronic absenteeism. With your continued support, we can achieve this goal!
Our chronic absence numbers by class/grade level are as follows. Chronic absence means that these are students who have been absent at least 10% of the school year so far.
PK - 28%
(Ms. Sasz -37%; Ms. Tyler -43%; Ms. Smith -45%; Ms. Morris - 0%)
Kindergarten - 30%
(Ms. Cracknell -29%; Ms. Chamblin (K/1) - 22%; Ms. Smith - 18%; Ms. Riley - 25%)
First Grade - 13%
Second Grade -15%
Third Grade -8%
Fourth Grade -7%
Fifth Grade - 10%

A surprise attendance event celebration was held for those who showed incredible commitment throughout the entire 3rd quarter. A huge round of applause to each and every one of you! Keep up the fantastic effort - you make us proud! Remember, you never know when the next one will be, so keep coming to school!

MWES Sneaker Ball Extravaganza!
Exciting News, Panther Cubs Families!
We will have our first Sneaker Ball at Mary Williams Elementary School on April 20, 2024, from
1:00 - 3:00 p.m. This event is for MWES students only. Parents are required to attend. Formal attire for parents is optional. The attire is formalwear (dresses/suits) and sneakers.
You do not want to miss this PHENOMENAL event! There will be photos, a live DJ, and lots of dancing! The cost is $6.00 per student, and you must pay using Quick Pay before 4/18/24. Cash will not be accepted at the door.

Victorious Wins at the Math 24 County Competition!
WHOO-HOO! We are thrilled to announce that our school has achieved outstanding success in the county competition! With first-place wins in 3rd and 5th grades, second place in 5th grade, and third place in 4th grade, we have proudly brought home 4 out of 9 trophies!
A huge round of applause to our Math 24 team and our dedicated sponsors: Mr. Mahabeer, Ms. Maxwell-Roberts, and Ms. Cao for their incredible support and guidance.

4th Annual Cooking Autism Race~
Dear MWES Families, Staff, and Community!
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who showed up and supported the 4th Annual Cooking Autism Race. Your presence, dedication, and enthusiasm made the event truly special and successful.
Together, we ran, we cooked, and most importantly, we raised awareness and support for individuals with Autism. Your participation not only made a difference in the lives of those affected by Autism but also showcased the power of unity and compassion within our community.
Thank you for your unwavering support, generosity, and commitment to making the world a more inclusive and understanding place for individuals with Autism. We look forward to seeing you again at future events as we continue to come together to make a positive impact.
