McMurray Elementary School Library
Greetings from the McMurray Library!
Our library is filled with chapter books, picture books, graphic novels, biographies, nonfiction books, reference materials, and all the best series! We have a great Makerspace/STEM area that includes building sets, engineering challenges, manipulatives, coding games, and other materials that allow students to problem solve and be creative. We identify and differentiate popular book genres, review library circulation procedures, escape from digital breakout rooms, and collaborate with Art & Computer Apps on an engaging, cross-curricular project. Throughout the year, we collect recyclable materials such as cardboard, plastic bottles, paper products, and lids. We then pose a real-world problem and allow students to use these products to create or invent a solution. At McMurray, our students learn how to become safe digital citizens and explore ways to use technology responsibly. We investigate online research skills, evaluate databases, and teach students to abide by copyright and plagiarism guidelines. Finally, be sure to check out our McMurray Wall of Fame. Students earn chances to play carnival-style games. If they succeed, they score points for their class!
Peters Township Middle School Library
Mrs. Sharon Pampena, Library Secretary
We serve Peters Township students in grades 6-8 utilizing a flexible library schedule to best serve the needs of our students and staff. Students will visit the library throughout the year for projects, research, makerspace activities, a good book, or a quiet escape. Our library supports our students' learning needs by subscribing to reputable online databases, providing current resources in a variety of formats, and keeping an updated collection of desirable books to encourage our students to find and foster a love of reading.
Peters Township High School Library
Mrs. Mary Fetcher, Library Secretary
The new PTHS library is where students can utilize all our resources! We have a vast collection of fiction, non-fiction, biographies, and graphic novels. Students can also access Writing Lab assistance and Honor Society Tutoring while here. The librarian is always available for help with reference materials, databases, research, and citations. We recently were awarded grant money and have added "Relaxation Station" carts with various activities to decrease stress and anxiety and increase collaboration and communication skills.
