Scott 6th Grade Center's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening in Ms. Deon's Classroom?
Students in Ms. Deon’s math extensions class have been working on surface area and volume of a 3D shape. Students have been working together to make all the calculations necessary to figure out the surface area.
Students in Executive Functioning have been working on breaking apart directions into checklists. Students are given a fake assignment and must create a checklist of what they need to do to complete the whole assignment.
Students in Social Behavior and Understanding are working on being better decision makers. Students are creating Pro and Con lists and considering the consequences to make a big decision.

April Attendance Challenge
We all know how important it is to attend school. Everyday on the announcements Mrs. Lamothe reminds the students that "We enter to learn and leave to achieve." Our students cannot learn if they are not in the building to receive the in person instruction, intervention and enrichment from our staff.
We have been incentivizing attendance with "Gotcha Days" and prizes. This month we are stepping up our game. There are 20 school days in April. Any Scott student that is in school for 95% of the school days in April (19 out of 20- you can only miss 1 school day) will be able to throw a wet sponge at either Mr. Altland or Mrs. Lamothe-students will get to choose, but will only get 1 throw.
We are hoping this will increase our attendance for the month of April and more importantly increase student achievement because the students are in the building learning.
Student Council Sponsored Spring Fling- Tickets for Sale During Lunches
Student Council is organizing a Spring Fling on Friday, May 3rd from 6:30 to 8:30.
Students will have the opportunity to play basketball and games in the gym, play bingo or board games in the library, and dance at the "Glow Dance" in the cafeteria.
Admission will be $3.00, and there will be snacks and glow items for sale to support Student Council.
In order to attend, students must not be suspended from the time we return from Spring Break until the Dance (April 3- May 3). They must also have less than 3 behavior referrals for the month.
Mrs. Waterman and the Student Council will continue to sell tickets during lunches this week.
Please click on the signup genius link below if you are able to help during the dance

Vaping Resource
Have You Caught Your Child Vaping?
Understand the risks: Educate yourself about the potential dangers and health risks associated with vaping, including nicotine addiction, lung damage, and exposure to harmful chemicals.
Start the Conversation: Initiate open and honest discussions with your child about vaping, emphasizing the importance of making informed and healthy choices.
Be a role model: Model healthy behaviors and avoid using tobacco or vaping products yourself, as children are more likely to emulate the behaviors of their parents.
