Monthly Update, March 2024
GJPS Student Success
Student Academic Growth
Our GJPS staff continues to work hard to educate our students and it shows in our universal screener data. Our students demonstrated amazing growth between the fall and winter test administrations of both Acadience and MAP. Well over half of our students met or exceeded the expected growth targets from fall to winter. To learn more about the growth, please check out the March 7 Board Workshop.
Student success is measured by more than just assessment scores. However, student growth is a significant component of student success. As we continue to recover from the impact of the pandemic, it is important for us to celebrate our students' performance and the hard work and dedication of our staff.
REMINDER!
2024-25 Transportation Registration Due March 26!
In order to prepare for the 2024-25 school year, the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Transportation Department must understand our students’ transportation needs. All students eligible to ride a GJPS school bus to a GJPS school or GJPS school program are asked to register for transportation by midnight on March 26, 2024. Students not eligible for bus transportation do not need to complete the form.

Summer School | Journey to Learning Information
Registration Begins in April
We are excited to offer our Journey to Learning and High School Summer School programming again in 2024!
Our K-8 program and K-12 English Learners program are designed to provide intervention to students who need targeted support in reading and/or math. For that reason, we are moving to a referral-based system of student registration. Students will be referred by their school teams based upon academic performance criteria and need. Families of eligible students will receive written communication regarding their student’s referral for summer services, along with the invitation to register.
Families that do not receive communication regarding their student's school referral will not be eligible to register for K-8 summer programs and K-12 English Learners programs.
The registration process for high school courses, elementary special education, Kindergarten Readiness and preschool will be open to all students but with limited space available.
More detailed registration instructions, including course fees and transportation as applicable, will be available in April.
Our Newest Safety Video
Please watch our latest safety video featuring GJPS Superintendent Dr. Deagle and Gahanna Division of Police Chief Spence. This time, they are discussing firearm storage safety and highlighting the risks of look-alike weapons. Stay informed & help us keep our GJPS students safe!
Lincoln Elementary
Mrs. Murry's first grade class at Lincoln Elementary took their knowledge about simple machines and created their own Leprechaun Traps, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. Using everyday materials and boundless creativity, these young engineers were on a mission to outsmart those elusive Leprechauns.
Despite their best efforts however, the sneaky Leprechauns only left a note and a gold coin! Better luck next year!
Elementary Art Classes
Four GJPS elementary students from Jefferson Elementary and High Point Elementary had their artwork awarded at the Youth Art Month (YAM) celebration on Saturday, March 2 2024.
The students participated in the annual Flag and Graphic Design contest and were recognized for their creations. Shoutout to teachers Katie Hoeper and Jenny Davison for their guidance and encouragement!
