Friendship

Friendship is prominate throughout the story. Friendship is a big part in these characters lives for the good and bad. Everyone wants someone to listen to their feelings in difficult situations.
"No human being could have passed a happier childhood than myself." -Victor
Victor grew up in a loving home. His mother and father loved their kids a lot and taught him how to love others. This quote relates to friendship because it shows how thankful Victor is for having such a loving family.
“I have no friend, Margaret: when I am glowing with the enthusiasm of success, there will be none to participate my joy; if I am assailed by disappointment, no one will endeavour to sustain me in dejection.” Letter 2
Walton has lost all forms of physical contact with people who truly care about his problems and he wants someone there who can help him celebrate in times of joy and accomplishments.
“When my father returned from Milan, he found playing with me in the hall of our villa a child fairer than pictured cherub- a creature who seemed to shed radiance from her looks and whose form and motions were lighter that the chamois of the hills.” Chapter 1
This is describing victors first companion. This is the first time in victor’s life that he has felt true companionship. He finds this in his new sister. She provides the companionship and friendship that he uses as a basis to fulfill his life as a creator.
"Nothing could equal my delight on seeing Clerval; his presence brought back to my thoughts my father, Elizabeth, and all those scenes of home so dear to my recollection. I felt suddenly, and for the first time during many months, calm and serene joy." Chapter 5
This shows how close Henry, Elizabeth, and Victor all were as friends. How happy they were together and how well they fit together as friends. These friendships not only complement each other's lives, but they were also a fundamental part of their lives.
"All men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us." Chapter 10
This quote is showing how friendship is important to the creature. He tells Victor how he is lonely and miserable. the creature is sad because Victor created him and doesn't love him.

This is explaining the importance of companionship by the monster speaking up for himself and telling victor that he felt lonely. He felt as if no one loved him, especially the one person who should, his creator.
"I will soon explain to what these feelings tended, but allow me now to return to the cottagers, whose story excited in me such various feelings of indignation, delight, and wonder, but which all terminated in additional love and reverence for my protectors (for so I loved, in an innocent, half-painful self-deceit, to call them)." Chapter 13
· The monster is feeling quite alone in the world because he realized that he was the only monster like himself in existence, longed even more for the friendship of the De Lacey family. The De Lacey family was the monster's chance for love.
"Suddenly, as I gazed on him, an idea seized me that this little creature was unprejudiced and had lived too short a time to have imbibed a horror of deformity. If, therefore, I could seize him and educate him as my companion and friend, I should not be so desolate in this peopled earth." Chapter 16
· The monster planned to kidnap William and keep him as a companion because he believed that the fears and cruelty of the rest of humanity had not yet prejudiced a child that was so young.
Friendships: Enrich you life and improve your health.
Friendships have a big impact on your life which is why it is important to have many friendships. Friends can help you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times. There are many benefits from good friendships such as it increases your sense of belonging, boosts happiness, and reduces stress.
Caring Friendships
In the 2007 Youth Connectedness Study the vast majority of young people reported that they and their friends helped each other out. These results are very similar to those of 2006, when 91.4 percent of the same young people (at ages 10 to 15) reported that they and their friends helped each other out, and again, 1.5 percent disagreed with this statement.
