Granger Students at the Board Meeting
Thank you to Asia Kroese, Cirille Arreola, Darrell Torres Colter III, Ben Alatorre, and Diana Rodriguez for speaking to the School Board about what makes Granger unique!
After hearing about our 3-year program, Board President, Mr. Arancibia related to his own son who is entering the 9th grade and having tremendous anxiety at this age. He said, "It does a service for our students to continue 7,8, and 9th." He said it's good for kids to be the big fish in a smaller pond in the 9th grade.
Mr. Solis said that he often has a hard time speaking out but, he said, "After listening to you, it reminds me to use my voice to help the kids of Granger."
Check out the Youtube video starting at 2:26 to 2:36 to see our students in action and to hear what the superintendent and other board members had to say about Granger.
2nd Annual Mental Health Youth Leadership Summit
Mrs. Sanchez, Mrs. Lively and our Griffins attended the Mental Health Youth Leadership Summit on Thursday after school at Hilltop High. Our student leaders ran a bingo booth showing students about one way to take care of their mental health.
Thank you all for participating in this important district wide event and thank you to for bringing mental health awareness to our campus.
Weekend Sports Update
Our football team brought home the victory Saturday morning when Faisel Musah Mahama Asafo ran for 4 touchdowns against Arroyo Vista. Paul Castro did a tremendous job as our quarterback and on defense as well. Well done, Griffins! We're headed to the playoffs! Volleyball also made us proud at this weekends game at Southwest High!
Math Field Day
Mrs. Mancero and Mr. Vedborg led our math field day team to absolute victory! 6 of our students placed in a variety of events around math. Thank you, coaches, for giving of your time to work with our amazing Griffins.
Congratulations to all of our students who made each of us so proud!

Another shoutout goes to the Granger staff who volunteered to help with Field Day. Ms. de la Mora came to cheer on our students. Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Toscano worked the front check in area. And Mr. Rangel served as a judge. There were more Granger staff there than any other site!! Well done, team!
Thank you for helping to pull off a great event!
Cell Phone Policy
We want to remind everyone that, in accordance with California Ed Code, Section 48901.5, schools regulate the possession and use of cell phones while students are on campus or attending school events.
We understand that cell phones have become a way of life. However, in the school environment, cell phones have become a distraction. Research, such as this one from Harvard Harvard Study: Technology and Student Distraction, supports that learning is impaired when students have a cell phone.
Granger students are NOT permitted to have cell phones at school. A student violates this policy if a cell phone rings or is seen by staff members during any point of the school day including lunch or passing period.
If seen, staff members will confiscate and turn into the administration. Cell phones will ONLY be returned to parents and guardians after school. If a student violates the cell phone policy, this will result in a parent conference.
COLOR RUN - April 26
On Friday, April 26, we will have our first ever Color Run! Mr. Marchante will present the info at the Faculty Meeting but here's a sneak peek at the Color Run slides that our students will be viewing this week.
This event will require that staff sign up to help with this school wide event. But it's so much fun! We will have staff sign up to either throw color at students at the color stations, hand out water, hose down students, or help keep kids on the two mile track through and around campus.
More information to follow!

CAASPP Testing - May 6-17
Griffins, state testing is from May 6 - 17. These assessments are important as they are great indicators of student growth this year. We are asking families to please schedule appointments outside of this testing window so that we have all of our students in attendance during this very important week.
Next week, we will have a spirit week to get ready for testing.
