TE REO FOCUS - WEEK 1 and 2 - FOODS
KIA ORA VOGELTOWN WHANAU
Today we have achieved a new milestone at Vogeltown, with a school of 387 learners. This is the highest number of learners we have had at Vogeltown since it opened! That means we have a lot of people at school and it is a very busy place. We are currently in the process of sorting all the staffing for next year - we will be able to let the community how this looks in a couple of weeks time.
As a reminder, if you know of any families or whanau who are intending on coming to Vogeltown, please remind them to enrol their child with us asap and get in contact with the office.
It has been great to have the Junior school classroom upgrade nearly completed. The kids were super excited (as were the teachers) to move in to these new spaces. A big thanks to our Rm 4 whanau for spending last term in the library at the senior side, they are now in their new modernised environment. We are just waiting to finish Rm 2, and then we will almost be ready to go. We are going to finish the fire alarm system, carpeting and vinyl flooring and roofing of the junior school in the Xmas holidays. (See the photos below of these awesome spaces).
The senior side is just having a re-roof of Block B and this should be completed soon.
We had a fantastic assembly today, run by the Class Reps. It was a great way to start the term, celebrate the end of the week and welcome our new akonga to Vogeltown. A big thanks to the Class Reps for the great assembly! As I mentioned to the akonga, please check the calendar as we have a lots of events this term.
A reminder that Term 4 means all our learners must wear a 'bucket' hat at school. As the term goes on we are expecting the temperatures to climb and this means the sun is more intense. Thanks for your support with this policy whanau. We do sell Vogeltown bucket hats at the school office but any bucket hat is fine to wear.
Nga mihi nui Vogeltown whanau,
Mr O and the VS team
JUNIOR SCHOOL - PROPERTY WORK
CONGRATULATIONS!
A massive congratulations to Celeste McLean and her partner Fletcher who got engaged over the term break! Miss McLean nearly ruined the special occasion, but lucky Fletcher stuck to his guns and made the trip to their favourite place in Taranaki to 'pop the question'.
Ka mau te wehi Fletcher and congratulations Celeste!
WELCOME TO VOGELTOWN
A massive welcome to Vogeltown School to all our new tamariki! We had an awesome assembly today to welcome our new 'Vogeltowners'. As with every new Vogeltowner, we wear the 'Korowai of manaaki' or the 'cloak of care'. We have now had over 400 Vogeltown learners and 10 Vogeltown Kaiako (teachers) wear this cloak - you can feel the manaaki and wairua when you wear it.
Welcome to the following tamariki who started with us this week:
Myra Salle, Luca Gooch, Rizal Hutton, Lily Bromley, Bella Fryer, Aubree Ardianta (all New Entrants), Aksh Chamola (Room 15).

YEAR 5 AND 6 CAMP, 2023
Every 2 years, we hold a camp for all our Year 5 and 6 students. Our 2023 camp will be held from Wednesday 22 February to Friday 24 February at Vertical Horizon in Inglewood.
The cost of camp will be confirmed soon, but is likely to be around $150.00 per child. We are part of the Ministry of Education's donation scheme, but would still appreciate donations towards the cost of camp. We will set up a payment scheme on Kindo so that families are able to spread the cost out over the coming months. Cash and EFTPOS payments will also be welcomed.
Our camp cannot function without parent support. If you would like to attend camp as a parent helper, you will need to complete a Police Vetting Form. These can be collected from the Senior Office. We also need to sight one form of photographic ID.
More information about camp will continue to become available over the coming months.

4 YEAR OLD FRIDAY - TERM 4 2022
ENROLMENTS FOR 2023
Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available
from the school office.
Next year there will be two enrolment periods.
The first enrolment period runs from 1 February 2023 to 6 April 2023.
The second enrolment period runs from 24 April 2023 to 30 June 2023.
The Board has determined that 0 places are likely to be available for out of zone students
turning 5 in the first enrolment period. The Board will determine how many places are likely
to be available for out of zone students turning 5 for the second enrolment period by
16 December 2022. The exact number of places will depend on the number of enrolments
received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
For students seeking enrolment within the second enrolment period, the deadline for receipt
of out of zone places is Friday 3 February 2023. Application for enrolment for an out of
zone student is made by completing an out of zone application form (available from the
school office and off our school website). Applications can be sent via email to
office@vogeltown.school.nz or delivered directly to the school office.
Parents and whanau who live in the home zone and intend enrolling their child for 2023
should apply by 30th September 2022 to assist the school to plan effectively for the 2023
school year.
For the second enrolment period, if the number of out of zone applications exceeds the
number of places available, students will be selected by ballot in accordance with
instructions detailed in the enrolment scheme. If a ballot is required, it will be held on
Tuesday 7 February 2023.
Parents and whanau will be informed of the outcome of the ballot on Friday 10 February
2023.
