We Engage We Educate We Inspire
We had completed three quarters of the school year before COVID-19 closure. We started the year with Meet the Teacher Night, enjoyed Grandparents Day, Veterans' Day, and had lots of dress-up days. We had musical performances. We crushed a Color Fun Run, celebrated Halloween, and enjoyed Read Across America Week. Each month we acknowledged our students' success at Stampedes.
During the COVID-19 closure, we have continued our successes. Each and every teacher developed a webpage and a Google classroom. They learned and implemented online classrooms through Zoom and WebEx. We had three parades throughout our community. Our students adjusted to monitoring their work virtually and attending class remotely. Our families adjusted their lives to allow their students to continue to engage in a new type of school. We just completed our first reverse parade to celebrate our 6th graders!
I am proud of how the Sonoma Ranch community has adapted and adjusted to remote learning and schools being closed. It has not been easy. But despite all the challenges we have remained Stallion Strong! As a community, we continued to honor our mission to engage, to educate, and to inspire.
Changes at the Ranch
We also celebrate the outstanding careers of Mrs. Shaffer and Mrs. Dawn as they bring to a close their last year as teachers. We wish them nothing but the best in retirement!
We look forward to Mr. Ramos in his somewhat new role as our full-time social worker for next year and Mrs. Sanders' transition from the classroom into the library as our new librarian.
Ms. Lawson and Mrs. Paschal have already begun planning for their new roles as 3rd-grade teachers for next year.
We also welcome four new teachers to the Ranch. Ms. Molly Weber joins our SPICE team as the new Intermediate SPICE II teacher. Ms. Rachel Beerck joins Mr. McKinzie as our new 6th grade teacher. Ms. Nicole Clements joins Mrs. Howard and Ms. Church as our new 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Michelle Miranda joins Ms. Lawson and Ms. Paschal as our new 3rd grade teacher. We are super excited to have such a stellar group of teachers joining the faculty at Sonoma Ranch! They will do great things I am sure!

Summer and the 2020-2021 School Year
As I write this, we have no real idea what next year will look like. Gilbert Public Schools, and Sonoma Ranch, are putting plans in place to adjust and adapt to whatever the fall may bring. These are unprecedented times and as information is available, I will share it out to the Sonoma Ranch community. If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to email me at colin.kelly@gilbertschools.net
I wish you all an amazing and restful summer. As always, please remember to
Be Safe!
