The Wayne-Westland Wrap Up - April 4, 2024
Greetings Wayne-Westland Families,
As we approach spring , I want to highlight the importance of upcoming assessments for our students across all grade levels.
For our middle and high school students, spring assessments provide valuable insights into their progress and help us tailor our educational approach to meet their needs. I encourage all students to approach these assessments with focus and determination, as they serve as benchmarks for their growth and development.
Our elementary students will also participate in the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (MSTEP). This assessment plays a crucial role in evaluating their proficiency in key subject areas and helps identify areas for improvement. Parents and guardians, your support in ensuring your child is prepared and ready for these assessments is invaluable.
As a district, we are committed to providing the necessary support and resources to help our students succeed. We recognize the hard work and dedication of our educators in preparing our students for these assessments, and we are confident in their abilities to excel.
I encourage open communication between parents, students, and teachers throughout this process. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming assessments, please don't hesitate to contact your child's school or teacher.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in our students' education.
Sincerely,
John Dignan, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Take Charge of Your Internet
Every student should be able to complete their homework at home. However, not all students have equitable access to the internet at home. To ensure all students have the access they need, the State of Michigan is conducting a Broadband Mapping Challenge, which can help secure federal funds to expand quality broadband to homes in our district.
Michigan residents can visit the website to check the map for their home address and submit necessary corrections to the state internet map. The result of the challenge will be a final state broadband map that will be used to determine which locations are eligible for funds from the $1.59 billion BEAD program to build internet infrastructure in Michigan. This program may be the best opportunity to get all of our students and families online. Take the challenge today!
