I would like to send a huge thank you to the families who donated or participated in decorating the front of the school for the Fall season. It looks amazing! A big "shout out" goes to Erin Roberts, Angie Schumacher, Sarah Kisamore, Stephanie Rollyson, Jessica Lautzenhiser, and Rachel Moulton! It is greatly appreciated. Check out the photos below.
If you'd like to help out with any other volunteer activity or holiday/seasonal decor as the year goes along, send a message to the PTA at suffieldpta@gmail.com or find them on Facebook! Have an idea of how you can help the school, let us know!
The holidays are just around the corner. If you and your family can use some assistance this holiday season, please let me know. The Suffield/Randolph Food Shelf has a program for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and Christmas gifts through the Giving Tree. There are also often families or other organizations that reach out and want to help others. If you have a need, please reach out to me and I will find a way to get you the help you need!
The Fall Fundraiser has begun. We invite students to participate to earn some fun prizes and help our school at the same time. We hope to be able to purchase some additional technology with the earnings. Students can earn a chance at winning a really cool prize by submitting all orders online! Check it out and if you need more information or an order form, give the office a call or send a note! Thank you for your support!

Suffield Township Trick-or-Treat
Sunday, Oct 31, 2021, 02:00 PM
Suffield Township, OH, USA
Halloween Safety Tips
• Make sure your child’s costume is bright and reflective. It should fit well and be short enough to prevent tripping.
• Ensure costumes, wigs and accessories carry a label indicating they are flame resistant.
• Consider painting your child’s face instead of using a mask that can block peripheral vision.
• Feed your family a good meal prior to Halloween parties or trick-or-treating to discourage your kids from filling up on candy.
• If your kids are trick-or-treating in an area without sidewalks, walk on the edge of the road facing traffic.
• For evening trick-or-treating, add reflective tape to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility. All kids or their parents should have a flashlight. Glow sticks are also great.
• After trick-or-treating, sort and check your kids’ goodies. Though tampering is rare, closely examine all treats – and throw away any spoiled, unwrapped or suspicious items.
A note from the Ohio Department of Health
The Ohio Department of Health has asked schools to share this information with families:
As you know, the COVID-19 vaccination is a key to keeping Ohio’s students in the classroom, and that’s why the Ohio Department of Health has launched Ohio Vax-2-School. Ohioans between the ages of 12 and 25 who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination have the chance to win one of 150 $10,000 scholarships and one of five $100,000 scholarships to an Ohio college or university for career or technical education. The entry period is open now. To learn more about this initiative or to submit an entry, visit ohiovax2school.com or call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH.
Flu Shot Clinic
In partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital School Health Services, it is our pleasure to offer on-site flu vaccinations at your student’s school on Monday, October 25th. Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and are offered to ALL consented students, regardless of their insurance coverage.
Why get a flu vaccine?
The best way to minimize or avoid the spread of the flu is to get an annual flu vaccination. Each year the vaccine protects against new strains, therefore, the vaccine should be administered annually.
Who is Health Heroes, Inc.?
At Health Heroes, we specialize in on-site vaccination clinics. Vaccines are provided as a NO-OUT-OF-POCKET expense to students. We bill both Medicaid and private insurance; however, we never bill students or parents for any out-of-pocket expenses or deductibles. Qualifying uninsured students can be given the vaccine, free of charge. Although student participation is voluntary, these vaccinations are recommended to help keep schools healthy and cut down on high absenteeism.
What type of vaccines will be given?
IIV-4 injections will be available to all consented children who do not have any contra-indicators. All vaccines given are preservative-free, mercury-free, Thimerosal-free, and administered by state-licensed nurses.
What do you need to do to participate?
If you wish for your child to participate, please COMPLETELY fill out the consent form, Including ALL insurance information (you must have the member ID numbers filled in), and sign the form. If there is no insurance, please mark the appropriate box on the form. These forms need to be returned to your child’s school prior to the clinic date to secure a dose for your child.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Health Heroes at 330-573-6864 or 1-205-609-0268/OH@healthherousa.com. For further information, you can also visit our website at www.healthherousa.com. We hope to see your child in the clinic!

Birthday Treats-MUST be prepackaged, ONLY
At this time, we will allow Birthday Treats to be brought to school. We are required to inform you of the Healthy Eating Guidelines (see below) and suggest that you use this when selecting a treat. Whatever you choose, please note that all treats brought to school for the purpose of sharing with others, need to be prepackaged so we are able to know and see the ingredients list. There are many students who have a variety of food allergies and having the ingredients listed helps the school nurse determine if a student with allergies can eat a particular treat.
Ohio's Parent Mentor Program
We would like to introduce you to Christina Hemberger, the Parent Mentor for Field and Southeast Local Schools. She is available to our families as a resource and advocate for those students with disabilities. Below is the Parent Mentor brochure. Counselor's Corner- A Note From Miss Livers
Hello Suffield Families!
Using mindfulness is a great way to help with anxiety. Mindfulness can help calm anxious feelings, help students think through problems and also help them stay focused on what is important. Mindfulness is living in the here and now, focusing on what is right in front of you. Using different techniques, like coping skills, can help bring kids and really anyone to the moment they are in. Using your senses is a great one. Practice mindfulness by asking your students to use their senses when you are together. Point out 5 things you can see right now, what are 4 things you can feel right now, what are 3 things you can hear right now, what are 2 things you can smell right now and what is 1 thing you can taste! This simple but fun activity is a great way to start building mindfulness!
