CDS - First Program
The Weekly Word from CDS FP - Dec 4, 2017 - Jan 8, 2018
Looking Back
Looking Back - our time at school leading up to Winter Break was full of events:
- Winter Concert on December 7th went fantastic. Congratulations to all the students for a fantastic performance, and thank you to Ms. Fitz for all her preparation to make it such a success.
- House Breakfast the morning of the last day was great. Thank you to all the parents for their support. Students and teachers enjoyed a meal together, reflected on the year so far, talked about Winter Break plans, and got prepared for the Candle Lighting Ceremony
- Candle Lighting Ceremony was the final event for 2017. First Program, Middle School, and High School all gathered into the Dalton Hall. Students were recognized for their achievements in the Essential Schoolwide Learner Results (ESLRs) - otherwise known as the "6 Cs". Students from various groups performed such as the choirs and percussion ensemble. Juliet (G4) and Lena (G5) did a fantastic job being the student emcees. Middle and High school students played house and transition music. All in all, students were more involved than ever. Representatives from each grade level read the poem The Shortest Day onstage. Also, representatives lit candles on behalf of their grade level. A highlight was the singing of the new school song. This is special because it is a song that was written by senior Kyle Lee through collaboration with Mr. Tolley. Music teachers from all divisions introduced the song to students, and it was then performed by all at the ceremony. We watched a slideshow of FP MS and HS photos from terms 1 and 2. To end the event, the MS/HS choir had an amazing performance of Seasons of Love. It is great that the students of all three divisions get to be together, perform for one another, and share their talent and support.

Looking Ahead
- Term 2 Assembly - please join us on Friday!
- Report Cards are coming soon - Jan. 15th. Please note that students will receive a paper copy of their report card in an envelope. Please read the report card with your child. The teachers work very hard on these, and provide a thorough report on the student's achievement during terms one and two. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
- New Faculty - we are pleased to be welcoming Ms. Kim - she is the newest addition to the FP faculty. She will be an assistant teacher in the First Program.
