Nazareth Protestant Community
March 26th, 2015
You know how when you make plans that are a long way out and it seems like it's so far away that the day will never arrive? That's how I'm feeling these days. Yes, as of the writing of this I am still pregnant. My due date--a date I've been awaiting for 40 weeks now--is two days away. Time flies when you're having fun! And it slows down when you're waiting for an 8 pound baby to decide it's time to vacate the premises.
But on another level, I also look at the semester and how fast it has gone by. It's nearly April, meaning the year is quickly winding to a whirlwind of a close. Papers, tests, projects, assignments. Stress, anticipation, worry about future plans. It's a pretty anxious time for all of us, I think.
I will simply leave you with these verses that have long given me a sense of peace when it seems like life is moving too fast, or too slow, or not how I planned it would:
But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:1-3
God is with you, my friends, through whatever storm or fire. May the peace of Christ be with you.
Blessings,
Nadia
NAZARETH’S CATHOLIC AND PROTESTANT COMMUNITIES PARTICIPATE IN THE FAIR TRADE PALMS PROJECT!
Palms marked Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, these symbolic fronds also are waving in a new era for communities in Guatemala and Mexico that are taking part in a program sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), Lutheran World Relief (LWR), Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the University of Minnesota, which initiated work with rural farm cooperatives in Mexico and Guatemala to decrease over-harvesting and waste by selecting only the highest quality fronds. In turn, the farmers receive a better price for their quality palms, thereby improving their livelihoods
