Week at Forest Park...
We have had a great couple of weeks at Forest Park. I wanted to thank all of our families who helped make out Food Drive. We collected almost 2,000 cans for the NK Food Pantry, and the Feinstien Foundation will support the school with $1 for each can that was collected. Additionally, I wanted to thank the PTO for their efforts to bring in the African Arts in Education workshop. Third, fourth, and fifth grade loved the workshops, and the entire school celebrated at assembly at the end of the day. Our school thought that this was one of our best assemblies!
Students participated with two different kinds of drums.
The presenters explained how sayings would help keep drum patterns.
3rd grade drumming with Mrs. Thompson.
Mr. Garrepy's class enjoying the workshop.
The musicians shared their culture and music.
It was amazing to work with such talented artists.
Fourth grade was able to work with complicated patterns.
Mrs. Gormley joined 3rd grade for the fun.
Mrs. Amelotte and Mrs. Kruse joined in.
The different instruments were fascinating.
The performance was amazing!
Students were invited to dance to the rythms.
Second graders enjoyed listening to the "Bug Guy".
The " Bug Guy" expanded on the topics in their science kits.
