Student Scoop
Let's play SET. This game makes me a little crazy, but it is really great for helping you stretch your visual and spatial thinking, both of which are weaknesses for me, who strongly prefers verbal reasoning . The New York Times publishes new puzzles daily. In addition to SET, you can find Ken Ken, Sudoku, and the famed NYT Crossword, which is definitely more my cup of tea. However, in order to be well rounded thinkers, we have to push ourselves in areas where we struggle. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Attention Young Writers! KET is sponsoring a contest just for you. They invite students in kindergarten through third grade to submit illustrated stories, students in fourth and fifth grades to submit short stories, and students in sixth through eighth grades to submit their poetry. Click on the link below for rules. If you want some help with this, see me!

Nominate a teacher who does a great job meeting the needs of gifted kids in his/her classroom. They will get a small token of our appreciation and we'll share your kind words in an upcoming newsletter. (Parents can nominate, too!)

Parent Ponderings
Last week, I was privileged to attend the KAGE conference, where Lisa Van Gemert (aka The Gifted Guru) was the keynote speaker and led several sessions. I learned SO much from her. She gave a fabulous address on things she would love to tell every gifted young person. I am requesting a copy of that address so I can share it with students. It was powerful!
I encourage you to hop over to her website and explore. In addition to being an accomplished educator, she is also the parent of three grown gifted children. Here is a recent series she has started about managing screen time at home. I know I need to do a better job of this!!!
Teacher Talk
Ms. Paul has been recognized by a parent for going above and beyond for her students. Mrs. Starkey writes, "Ms. Paul consistently pushes her students to reach their highest potential in every aspect of learning. She is constantly looking for new and engaging ways to challenge her students. The level of thinking and questioning that happens in her classroom is impeccable! My child is blessed to have her!" Thank you, Ms. Paul, for all that you do!
Academic March Madness
By now everyone knows how much I love Ian Byrd at Byrdseed.com. He has shared this fantastic resource for creating "Academic March Madness." He gives some ideas for themes. It is a really cool way to get kids to defend their thinking!
Nominate a student for recognition by clicking this link and telling me about a gifted kid in your class who really shines.

6/7/8 KUNA
Monday: Brazil
Wednesday was slated to be Netherlands, but it is a half day.
Thursday: Argentina
Friday: Netherlands/all hands on deck
NATIVE ATTIRE is our most urgent concern. For both Brazil and Argentina, girls can wear flowing white skirts and a white top with a colorful belt. Boys, we need to discuss your outfits. For the Netherlands, boys should wear a white shirt, black or khaki pants, suspenders, and a neck kerchief. Girls, I am not certain what you decided. NATIVE ATTIRE is optional for most students. Those who would prefer may wear a shirt in the color of the country's flag and khaki or black pants.
Be on the look out for a special KUNA update this week with details about our trip!
High School
Check Google Classroom for assignments and feedback. I am looking at a lunch seminar on Thursday, March 22 OR Thursday, April 19. Be on the look out for more information!
