Who is Rosa Parks?
Rosa Parks is one very important historical figure, on the day of 1955 December 1st In Montgomery Alabama , Rosa had boycotted against discrimination against blacks.Now December 1st is now known as Rosa Parks day.
Rosa's Childhood
Rosa Parks had always felt that everyone should be treated equal.Ever since Rosa was a child she had experienced discrimination, For example a white man had been drinking out of a drinking fountain he had a dog with him. One drinking fountain was for the colored, one was for the whites.The white man had drank out of the white drinking fountain, and the dog had drank out of the colored. She was so disgusted, she had run away crying.
The Bus Boycott
On December 1st, in Montgomery Alabama,Rosa Parks refused to give up a bus seat for a white man.But she wasn't the first person to disobey the segregation laws.After Rosa was thrown in jail, they began The Bus Boycott,The bus boycott was the resistance to racial segregation. Which Rosa was a big part of.
The Fight isn't over
She organized and collaborated with civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr.,a new minister in town who gained national prominence in the civil rights movement,and Edgar Nixon, president of the local chapter of the NAACP.To fight against civil rights.
Equal Rights
Rosa parks eventually moved to Detroit to look for similar work, she soon met John Conyers, US Representative. She served as his receptionist and secretary from 1965 to 1998.After retirement she wrote an autobiography and lived a private life in Detroit.She passed anyway in 2005 and lived for 92 years.
