Is your student interested in a Dual Enrollment Course?
Dual Enrollment or Early College Experience is the opportunity for students to earn not only high school credit but also college credit hours for college classes taken during their junior and senior years of high school. Students must qualify by having a 3.0 unweighted GPA, and they must have minimum subscores of 19 on the ACT. Likewise, the state of Tennessee provides the Dual Enrollment Grant to students to assist in paying for college tuition. The information for Dual Enrollment can be found at maryville-schools.org, Maryville High School, Classrooms, Dual Enrollment.
If your child is interested in taking DE classes, please complete the Application and Release forms that are below. Please see Mrs. Burchfield if you need additional information.

Clarifying Required Quarantine Times
- Close contact quarantine is now only 10 days, not 14.
- The 10 day quarantine requirement can be shortened with the following stipulations:
- A student must receive a negative result from a PCR test, not a rapid test.
- The test must be taken on Day 6 of the quarantine time frame or later.
- The negative test allows a student to return to school on Day 8 of the quarantine time. Basically, a negative test will allow a student back two days sooner, depending on the length of time it takes to receive the test results.
- Documentation of the negative test results will be required to re-enter school early and should be provided to the school nurse before a student attends classes.
We know that asking a student to quarantine impacts extracurricular obligations, work obligations, and family plans. Thank you for your continued support as we follow the TDOH guidelines this upcoming semester.

The Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host two virtual summer engineering programs for rising twelfth grade students during this summer. The High School Introduction to Engineering Systems for Twelfth Graders (HITES12) program will inspire rising twelfth-grade students (current juniors) to tackle real-world engineering challenges through creative applications of math and science. New this year, UTK has removed the standardized test score requirement to accommodate students who were unable to take these exams during the pandemic. The program dates are June 6 – 11, 2021 (session #1) and June 20-25, 2021 (session #2). They also have volunteers who are directly involved in horse care and barn upkeep. They offer volunteer opportunities at two different locations, in Lenoir City and South Knoxville. Volunteering with STAR is a perfect way for high school students to accumulate hours for Tennessee Promise and other scholarships. For more information, please contact Julia Stewart-865-988-4711
