Mary Nelmes
Mary Nelmes is a top-caliber student. She is always willing to help, take on challenges, try new things, and lead groups. She is self-driven and is an outstanding member of Owl Leadership, ERE's Student Leadership Team. She goes the extra mile, no matter the task. Outside of school, she plays volleyball and is a great contributor to her family and community. Mary is a great friend, a helpful person, and an all-around amazing scholar.
Gabriel Banuelos
Gabriel pushes himself to exceed expectations in all academic studies. He proves himself to be an exceptional learner by eagerly taking on challenges in Math and Written Responses in English Language Arts by using the R.A.C.E.S. strategy. He goes above and beyond to make sure any group he is collaborating with understands the essential question and concept presented in the learning goal. Gabriel is an outstanding member of Owl Leadership. His contributions enrich the classroom learning environment.
Allie Atler
Allie has taken on many roles at ERE! She recently became our new library coordinator. She has a great rapport with students and works hard! She is creative and engaging and makes the library a welcoming place for all. Students and staff adore her. She is a very valued team member!
Margaret Scheffler
Margaret consistently goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her students. She will do whatever it takes to make sure every single student in her class grows throughout the school year. She stepped up in a big way this year by taking over a leadership position. Not only does she care so much for her students, but she always has a good attitude and caring demeanor towards colleagues.
Congratulations! We Are So Proud of You!
Congratulations to this week's KOOL 103.5 Medford Teacher of the Week, Amy Bowen at Table Rock Elementary.
Scuba Steve came to our campus to honor a teacher of the week!
"There are many amazing teachers at Table Rock, but Amy is amazing with her kids. She goes above and beyond what is needed for her kids. Always taking the time to make each student feel special. She loves it when she can figure out what works for each child, as she knows that each person learns differently. When I walk into her room she always has a smile on her face regardless if she is having a hard day or not. She makes teaching look easy and effortless. Even with the most challenging kids, she welcomes them into her room without hesitation. I hope to be half the teacher that she is."
Oregon Farm to School program
On Valentine's Day EPSD9 showcased locally grown beets from Fry Family Farms. Our Sodexo Food Services Office staff prepared 100 lbs of beets for every school in District 9! This is possible through The Oregon Farm to School program and funded by the Oregon Farm to CNP Noncompetitive Reimbursement Grant.
The Oregon Farm to School program helps connect students to local Farms and Ranches here in Oregon. When the local gardens work with Food Services, magical things can happen. If local, healthy food is put out on the cafeteria line, students may or may not eat it. However, if the local food is supplemented locally, and the two areas work together to educate students about the food, they can get excited. When students learn about the food they are eating, they tend to be more interested in it, which can lead to healthy food choices.
This program has also been exciting for our Food Services Staff, who are now able to connect with new local suppliers and offer exciting new options.
Lydia Tolley, our Sodexo on-site GM says,
"Adding new farms and produce is what I'm excited about! We are not just providing food, we're showing and educating students about what is available locally and seasonally.
The Farm to School team will be visiting Shady Cove and hosting a Tasting Table in April. A Tasting Table is an offering through the program where Farm to School staff visit and provide educational experiences and information for students and staff during meal time.
Eagle Point High School Brass Quartet
The group before you is the Eagle Point High School Brass Quartet with performers Jesse Trevino, Joshua Smart, and Tobin Webster and Director Mr. Murakami.
Representative Emily McIntire invited and hosted the groups for the Oregon House Opening Ceremonies. The ensemble performed an arrangement of Jupiter from Gustav Holst's - The Planets.

EPHS Ag. Sciences visit Lake Creek Learning Center
EPHS Agricultural Sciences Students, LCLC and Plant Cycle Education
On February 27th and 28th, Agricultural Sciences Students from EPHS visited Lake Creek Learning Center to teach elementary students about plant cycles. The first day was spent on education and learning about the different stages of the cycle through coloring activities and conversation. On the second day, students were able to plant their seeds in a mock greenhouse environment using either a glove or a plastic cup.
Over the next few weeks, LCLC students will monitor the growth of their plants before transferring them to clay pots. EPHS students will be back in March to wrap up the project and answer any questions students might have. Thanks for visiting, everyone is very excited for EPHS to come back.
